2015 Older Americans Month Proclamation
Since 1963, communities across the country have shown their gratitude by celebrating Older
Americans Month each May. It is a special time because it gives us an opportunity to
acknowledge our older residents and their ongoing contributions to the quality of life here in
Warren County.
The national theme of this year’s celebration is “Get into the Act” to focus on how older adults
are taking charge of their health, getting engaged in their communities and making a positive
impact in the lives of others. The theme also acknowledges the 50th anniversary of the Older
Americans Act. Since 1965 the Act has provided a nationwide aging services network and
dedicated funding to assist older adults live with dignity in the communities of their choice for as
long as possible.
Please join us as we honor our residents age 60 and older by offering a Proclamation
designating the Month of May, 2015 as Older Americans Month in your Municipality.
The goal of the Warren County Aging Services Advisory Council is to obtain proclamations from
all of Warren County’s municipalities designating May, 2015 as Older Americans Month.
Therefore, it would be appreciated if you could forward to my office a copy of your completed
Municipal Proclamation and information on any other special activities being held in your
municipality to honor older residents during Older Americans Month.
For your convenience, I have enclosed a sample proclamation for you to utilize or you may
compose your own. On behalf of Warren County's older residents, thank you for your
anticipated efforts.
