Circulation (Choose 24) CIR-‐‑1 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Allow both print and e-‐‑mail receipts In Sierra, have the option of both printing and e-‐‑mailing the receipts for checkouts, renewals and returns. This way the patron has the information in their e-‐‑mail and in hand when they check something out. Libraries that send material out by mail to patrons can then include the receipt with the package and the patron receives e-‐‑mail notifying them that the items have been checked out. CIR-‐‑2 Checkin / Checkout / Renew It would be nice it overdue items showed up in red. It would be nice it overdue items showed up in red. Currently, the "ʺCheckout"ʺ tab shows red, but it would be a really nice visual cue if the specific overdue items were red too. CIR-‐‑3 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Lost and Paid item message to take precedence over the other messages. Currently when a lost and paid item is returned to the library it triggers a message, UNLESS there is another message pending. If there is a hold for the item the lost and paid message will not show. If the item is checked in at one location and it belongs at another location, a transit message will show. Once the item is on hold or in transit the Lost and Paid status is no longer active (the status of the item has changed and it is no longer lost and paid -‐‑ it is in transit or on hold). The result of this is that the patron who returns the items is unhappy, because they don'ʹt get their refund. The change I'ʹd like to see is for the Lost and Paid item message to take precedence over the other messages. The item can still be on hold or in transit and that message can appear as soon as the lost and paid item has been noted by the circulation staff. CIR-‐‑4 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Add more customization for emailed to patron date due slips Currently, the email to patron option uses the same settings as our receipt printers and we switch back and forth throughout the day. Allow more customization of the email printer so that, for example, the emailed receipt could include the patron'ʹs name, rather than barcode number. (we would not print a patron'ʹs name on a receipt due to privacy concerns but would prefer to send that in the email). Allow a different subject line, rather than the system generic FTSMAIL or whatever other generic phrase a library uses for emailed records. Allow a different layout or print template for emailed receipts. CIR-‐‑5 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Removing override prompt when selecting all items to renew If you select all to renew a list of items on a patron'ʹs record you are prompted with a message, depending on the situation, before being able to renew each item. It would be helpful if the message prompt asking for authorization showed up only once for each condition. CIR-‐‑6 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Show the line number next to the scanned check-‐‑in/out items In Circulation Desk mode, on the scanned check-‐‑in/out item table, add a column to show the line number, similar to the item table under "ʺChecked-‐‑ Out Items"ʺ tab. CIR-‐‑7 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Enable choice of printed or email receipt at time of checkout Date Due receipts are currently possible but the printer selection must be switched each time one is printed depending on if they have an email address or not. It would be better if the choice of printing an email receipt could be made within the patron record at the time of checkout. CIR-‐‑8 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Retain backdate Backdate settings are lost when staff change functions (Sierra) or modes (Millennium) or when a different staff person enters their initials. This results in incorrectly charging patrons for fines they do not owe, some difficult situations with patrons and waiving of these incorrect charges. It would be better for patrons and staff to have the option to retain backdate settings until the backdate is removed or reset. CIR-‐‑9 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Column for Number of Renewals in Checked Out tab Staff is not alerted to max renewals until a renewal has been attempted. Rather than trying to renew items which have already reached the maximum, one would have an easy way to determine which items could and could not be renewed (the way the "ʺon hold"ʺ message does) CIR-‐‑10 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Automatic renewal of items checked out Allow the option of the system automatically renewing or extending loans on the due date, unless there are holds on the items. The loans could be extended by a short period, e.g. one day, so that other patrons have a chance to place holds and get the items within a reasonable time. Other systems allow automatic renewals. CIR-‐‑11 Checkin / Checkout / Renew Library choose pop-‐‑ups when checking in transit, hold or lost items Libraries should have the choice to eliminate pop-‐‑up check-‐‑in messages that they do not need or want because it wastes staff time and contributes to repetitive motion injuries. Specifically, our library does not need to click or press a button every time an item in transit is checked in. We estimate that there are 16 million of these unnecessary pop-‐‑ups each year. Libraries should be able to choose which messages pop-‐‑up to best fit their business needs. CIR-‐‑12 Fines Provide additional information and allow customization of Fines Paid Please add the following fields to Fines Paid: PTYPE (so we can determine payment/waive activity on specific user groups), ITEM BARCODE, ITEM RECORD NUMBER, and LOAN RULE (that was in effect when fine was incurred). Also include information on all transactions on an invoice -‐‑ not just the most recent, and information on whether a refund was issued on a payment. Allow a report to be run on a range of statistical groups. Finally, please allow libraries to choose which fields appear in the default view of the Fines Paid table, and allow direct printing of selected details, instead of having to export to Excel first. CIR-‐‑13 Fines Allow limit on maximum number of fines/bills to be customizable by site. We have been told the hard-‐‑wired limit is "ʺaround 200"ʺ individual fines/replacement bills per patron. We have bumped into this limit several times because of our LARGE maximum of checkouts. Customers forget to renew, return all their books, and we cannot check them in because the limit has been reached. Sites should be able to have as many fines/bills as the max number of checkouts. I suspect very few sites bump into the limit but hope this enhancement will get some votes. It seems clear to me that this file size should be customizable like so many other file sizes are. We have massive disk space and should be able to allocate it where it is needed. CIR-‐‑14 Holds in Staff Client Allow holds to be transfered between bibs, vol and item records Allow staff to transfer a hold between bib and volume (or item) records. Allow holds transfer among record types. Staff should have ability to modify holds without cancelling and replacing holds. For INN-‐‑REACH libraries, non-‐‑local patrons are allowed to renew materials even when there is a bib-‐‑level hold for a patron at the owning library. Once hold is converted to item-‐‑level hold, any future renewal attempts by non-‐‑local patrons will be blocked. For material that have been on order, transfering holds between volumes, items and bibs would be helpful. CIR-‐‑15 Holds in Staff Client Add ability to display hold note on check-‐‑in Per manual, "ʺHold notes appear when you view the holds for a patron or the holds on a bibliographic or item record. Hold notes also appear on the paging slips that are printed when items are requested from other locations."ʺ Add ability to display information in hold note when item is checked in. CIR-‐‑16 Holds in Staff Client Selective exporting and/or printing of the View Holds List Add ability for staff to selectively print or export (part, not all of list)of the View Holds list. CIR-‐‑17 Holds in Staff Client Add patron barcode and record number to hold screen on bib record display While viewing holds on a bib/item record display, include the patron barcode and record number in columns along with date placed, patron name, patron type, pick at, limit to, etc. CIR-‐‑18 Holds in Staff Client Add "ʺwhy hold was cancelled"ʺ note field Provide ability to note a reason why the hold was cancelled in more detail on the cancelled hold. Make it viewable in "ʺView Cancelled Holds"ʺ. CIR-‐‑19 Holds in Staff Client Option to display patron barcode on pop-‐‑ups during checkin and checkin screen. When checking an item in, the patron barcode does not display nor is possible to retrieve. Staff must note the patron'ʹs name, switch to Checkout mode and search for the patron or select from drop-‐‑down list for patrons who have recently checked in items. Display barcode and provide ability to right-‐‑click, select patron record and quickly retrieve more information. Add option to display patron barcode on check-‐‑in screens, hold filling screens, and prompts to put item in-‐‑transit. CIR-‐‑20 Holds in Staff Client Allow staff to renew items with item-‐‑level hold Add staff permission to renew and/or change the due date of a checked out item even if there'ʹs an item-‐‑level hold on it. The current inability to do this requires staff to go in and cancel item-‐‑level holds, then renew the item, then place the holds again and is very staff intensive. CIR-‐‑21 Holds in Staff Client Add ability to manage holds in View Outstanding Holds mode View Outstanding Holds mode provides staff the ability to detect a number of problems with the holds queue, including detecting holds with available items and holds that have been placed on withdrawn items. However, since the mode does not provide the ability to transfer, cancel or otherwise manipulate the hold, the ability to deal with the problem is reduced. Provide the ability to transfer, cancel, or otherwise manipulate holds in the View Outstanding Holds list. CIR-‐‑22 Holds in Staff Client Create optional pickup locations that exist in the Staff Client only in the Hold Pickup Locations table. Libraries may have alternative service points that act as special pickup locations. These locations are utilized internally via the Staff Client, but should be excluded from the online catalog for general requesting. In the Hold Pickup Locations table, it would be very useful if staff could specify which pickup locations are to be offered in either the online catalog request feature (as well as INN-‐‑Reach, in applicable), within the Staff Client, or both. CIR-‐‑23 Holds in Staff Client Add fixed-‐‑length field for hold cancellation message Staff need fixed-‐‑length field to record pre-‐‑determined reason why a hold was cancelled which would be used to answer patron questions. This would supplement the special hold concellation notices that are sent the patron. CIR-‐‑24 Holds in Staff Client Ability to modify pickup location of an item "ʺready for pickup"ʺ Staff should be able to modify the pickup location despite the status of ready for pickup, and the system should reset the hold, change the status to "ʺin-‐‑transit"ʺ and print a transit slip. Staff still may need to check in the item after changing the location in order to print a transit slip. When the item is not in hand, the updated hold would show up on the hold shelf clearance report. CIR-‐‑25 Holds in Staff Client Allow change priority and freeze from patron records Staff should be able to re-‐‑prioritize or freeze a hold directly from the patron record in Sierra and not have to go to Search/Holds. It is inconvenient and time consuming to not be able to do these simple actions from the patron record. CIR-‐‑26 Holds in Staff Client Replace holds in View Cancelled Holds with one click Save patron and staff time by adding ablity to replace cancelled holds with one click from the View Cancelled Holds table. CIR-‐‑27 Holds in Staff Client Add ability to split or transfer holds between different bibs Staff should have ability to split up a long hold queue between two bibs and maintain the date placed sequence without having to also transfer an attached record. Add ability to transfer one, all or more selected holds to the target bib (for example, patron 2, 4, 6). A library may purchase slightly different editions of the same title and need to transfer or split the holds to different bib records. CIR-‐‑28 Holdshelf Outstanding Holds: Add option to limit by requesting location using wildcards Allow the Outstanding Holds Report to be limited using wildcards or bib locations. This would allow you to include multiple item locations that are all within the same branch that may have holds to fill from different locations. CIR-‐‑29 Holdshelf Allow the report that clears the Holdshelf to be reprinted In the Clear Expired Holds and Holdshelf function, staff print a designated report and then are prompted to clear it. Change the functionality so that the report can be reprinted (e.g., due to a paper jam), or prompt staff to clear the report before printing the next one, but not at the time they are printing the current report. Staff often inadvertently clear this report and then need to print it again. CIR-‐‑30 Holdshelf Allow the reassigment of an item on the holdshelf to another pickup location and generate a transit slip to send it to the new location Patrons often want to change the pickup location for an item after it is already in transit or on the hold shelf. We would love a way to make this possible for them, either through staff intervention or via their patron account. Once the pickup location was changed, the system would have to generate a new transit slip to re-‐‑route the item to the new pickup location. CIR-‐‑31 Holdshelf Extend pickup date for individual item on holdshelf Sometimes patrons contact us and ask us to hold an item for a couple more days. We are glad to do that, but then clearing the holdshelf automatically clears the hold. We would like to be able to extend the pickup date for an individual item on the holdshelf. CIR-‐‑32 Notices Notices need accruing fines Patrons complain that overdue notices only indicate fines which have been incurred, not fines which are still accruing. We would like to see a separate total of accruing charges or a note about them. We need the ability to customize the text which can optionally appear on overdue notices, esp. NOTE: Total outstanding fines and bills CIR-‐‑33 Notices Allow Custom Notices to be sent to patrons using a review file The library is limited to the standard notices without a way to send a custom notice through MilCirc. To send a custom notice, libraries have to export email addresses from a review file, perform a find and replace in a text editor, and then use another mail client to send a message about closures or other special events. Info on how to do this has been posted on the IUG Clearinghouse. It would be useful to be able to send special notices to patrons that met specific criteria and not some standard category. Some examples are: "ʺYour card is about to expire"ʺ, "ʺPlease update your email account"ʺ, "ʺThe library flooded overnight"ʺ, etc. Allow Library staff to create and store custom text notices (up to 6?) to be used in special situations. Allow some basic limiting (i.e. P-‐‑type, home library, expiration date, etc.) or allow the use of a review file. CIR-‐‑34 Notices Attach circulation notice history to patron account Attach a circulation notice history to the patron account, as proof of sending, to assist in answering queries at the desk in relation to overdue items, holds not collected, etc. CIR-‐‑35 Notices Reduce the number of bill notices per patron Large library systems with many branches would like the ability to send bills for all items no matter which branch library owns the item. Think of this as how one receives a statement from a credit card company: all purchased items appear on one statement no matter where the purchase took place. Add the ability to generate one bill per patron with all the billed items on that one notice. CIR-‐‑36 Notices Create an email welcome notice, possibly with a confirmation link A number of patrons do not receive email notices because the notices are blocked by their email provider as SPAM or possibly the library has a poor record of their email address. The first time the library hears of a problem is when the patron inquires about a hold and the patron says s/he has not received a pick-‐‑up notice. An email welcome notice would confirm to a new patron that the library can send emails to them. An optional confirmation link on the notice could be used as a trigger for the system to send email notices. Also, text on the notice could be used to advertise library services and give links to the library catalog. Such notices are common with many online services A new notice be created -‐‑ Welcome Notice. This would be sent, by email, to a new patron who signs up and wants his/her notices delivered by email, when the patron signs up. Optionally as part of the set-‐‑ up, add the ability to include a confirmation link that could be required before emailing of other notices is triggered (e.g. overdues etc.) CIR-‐‑37 Notices Allow patrons to opt out of receiving Courtesy Notices Some patrons do not want to receive courtesy notices and staff currently have no way to address the problem. Allow patrons to opt out of receiving Courtesy Notices. CIR-‐‑38 Notices Create and allow a hold pickup reminder courtesy notice Library staff spend a lot of time removing items from the holdshelf when patrons fail to pickup and checkout the materials. In order to encourage patrons to pick up their holds before they expire off the holdshelf, allow libraries to send a courtesy email reminder to patrons who have items on the hold shelf. The reminder could be sent a few days before the item expires off the hold shelf. The number of days should be configurable. The courtesy notice should be automated just like the courtesy overdue notice that tells patrons their materials are about to be overdue. This enhancement would benefit patrons and save a lot of staff work. CIR-‐‑39 Notices Ability to manually generate a notice when an item is returned damaged or is missing a part (such as a booklet, disc, etc.) When items are returned (in particular DVD and CD sets) sometimes a single disc will be left out. Currently the only options are to wait for the patron to contact us when the item becomes overdue or to attempt to contact the patron by phone (which is not always possible). The option to send an email message from the system would make it easier to coordinate returning the missing piece. CIR-‐‑40 Paging Paging for available items in Library from the staff client When a hold is placed in the staff client, the item is not paged if it is available in the library at the time the hold is placed. In some cases (like book clubs), staff members are placing multiple holds at the same time for the same title, or multiple holds for the same patron. Either way, it is easy for someone to miss that a particular copy is available at that time. There should be no reason that the staff member must interrupt what they were doing to run to a shelf to grab the item that moment. Can there be an option, preferably set by login, for staff placed holds to always be paged, even if the item is available? CIR-‐‑41 Patron Record Show the remaining fines owed on the patron receipt generated by the system Display the remaining fines on the printed receipt when a patron pays only part of a fine, CIR-‐‑42 Patron Record Provide full patron record functionality from item records Library staff would like to have full access to items checked out, fines owed, holds, and circulation functions from search/holds or while browsing a review file of patron records. This would be in addition to the current brief view of the patron record. For example, when contacting patrons about outstanding materials, staff could see the patron'ʹs circulation record, renew items on the spot, or declare items lost, while being able to easily move from one record to another in the review file. CIR-‐‑43 Patron Record Allow only part of a fine to be waived Currently it is not possible to waive only part of a fine. You have to waive the whole fine, or choose "ʺCollect Money"ʺ and pay part of the fine then waive the rest of it. Add the functionality to waive only part of a fine without having to pay some of it. We also want to automatically assign all waived fines with a payment type of waived, thereby eliminating the need for the payment type pop-‐‑up box to display. CIR-‐‑44 Patron Record EXPIRATION DATE in records for new patrons should be automatically calculated and inserted based on library settings. Expiration date is not automatically calculated and inserted in new patron records. Library should be able to define time period for EXP DATE calculation for different patron templates. E.g., our default time period is one year for regular patrons who get registered at the desk and 30 days for self-‐‑registrations in WebPAC. These defaults should be automatically inserted into patron records at the time of their creation. CIR-‐‑45 Patron Record Change options in patron record brief display We would like to be able to customize the brief display in the patron record. The default display does not contain enough fields for circulation staff. Customizations can include the ability to display in two column format, customize font and display size, or add additional fields. CIR-‐‑46 Patron Record Allow reordering of prompts when creating a patron record Fixed field prompts must always be first when creating a patron record, despite the fact that it may make more sense to have a variable field prompt come before a fixed field prompt. Allow sites to set the exact order of prompts while creating a new customer record regardless of whether the field is fixed or variable. CIR-‐‑47 Patron Record Retain Fines Paid information when merging patron records. When one patron record is merged into another, only certain fields are retained in the destination record from the source record, and fines paid history is NOT one of them. That history is lost and it would be most helpful to have it retained. CIR-‐‑48 Patron Record Ability to copy (clone) data from other patron records when creating a new patron. When entering new patrons, especially several people from the same family, it would be nice to be able to easily transfer data from an existing user. CIR-‐‑49 Patron Record Add time stamp to payments, waives, or adjustments We request that a time stamp be added to all payments, waives, or adjustments of fines/bills. It can be added to the date paid field of the Fines Paid mode and report. CIR-‐‑50 Patron Record Open patron record when viewing Holds list Provide the functionality to open/edit a patron record when viewing Item-‐‑ Level of Bib-‐‑Level Holds queues in the Search/Holds mode. CIR-‐‑51 Patron Record Create YTD circ, LYR circ, and authentication usage fields in patron record While the patron record counts total checkouts and total renewals, there is no way to see a patron'ʹs recent activity, or tell if a patron is using the card for authentication purposes or checking out physical materials. Create Year To Date (YTD) and Last Year (LYR) fixed fields in the patron record, as well as a field that stores the last date that the patron used WAM or other authentication source. CIR-‐‑52 Patron Record Preview Merged Patron Records Provide a preview of the merged patron record before merging the records, in a preview, so it is easy to see what fields would be added from the source, and which would not be added. CIR-‐‑53 Patron Record Provide ability to edit Claims Returned field When a claims returned item is actually found, and its status is changed to reflect this, the count in the Claims Returned field is not deducted from the patron'ʹs record. Currently, staff cannot edit or clear the Claims Returned field. Create ability to edit and/or clear Claims Returned field. CIR-‐‑54 Patron Record Ability to add colour to text in patron message and note fields Provide the option to highlight message or note text in a patron record with font colors. CIR-‐‑55 Patron Record Increase the number of categories available for libraries to limit the number of items checked out Currently there are four categories (A, B, C, D) by which libraries can limit the number of items checked out. Many libraries have more than four categories (location and/or item type) to be defined. Increase the number of categories available for libraries to limit (by location and/or item type) the number of items checked out. CIR-‐‑56 Renewals in Staff Client Override all option When renewing items, it is time consuming to override for each individual item. It would be better to have an "ʺoverride all"ʺ option, so that you could renew all overdue items, choose to assess a fine -‐‑ or not -‐‑ for all items or override to renew all items if the patron type does not allow renewals. CIR-‐‑57 OTHER Automate the annual LYRCIRC update procedure Each year someone onsite has to remember to perform the annual LYRCIRC update process, and needs to correctly recall the settings & procedure used in the past. Provide an option for the LYRCIRC update process to run automatically on a specified date with library-‐‑specified parameters and send notification by email to specified staff. CIR-‐‑58 OTHER Tickler / Email reminder field for item records Each time a patron loses an item, is billed, then provides the Libraries with a replacement copy, the billed/lost record has to stay in the system for two years (just in case the original copy resurfaces); at which time the patron will be reimbursed. Staff need to remember to go find these replaced records in two years and remove them. Having a tickler field in item records would make this easy. Provide a tickler/email reminder field in item records. CIR-‐‑59 OTHER Direct link to a cash register Circulation staff are required to record payment transactions twice (in Circulation and in the cash register) and balance them against each other. Provide an option for a direct link to a cash register so that any payment information entered into Circulation is automatically recorded in the cash register. CIR-‐‑60 OTHER Last Internal Use Date field for item records For non-‐‑circulating items, we use the internal use statistics to determine how often an item is being used, similar to the way TOT CHKOUT would be used for circulating items. Because there is no equivalent to the LCHKIN field for internal use, however, we do not have a way to show whether the item was last used in the past year. This information would help us make decisions about the collection. Create a new, protected fixed field for the Last Internal Use date so we can track this information. CIR-‐‑61 OTHER Allow multiple Circulation Parameters menus to be used at the same time. In the system, when working on loan rules, loan rule determiners, patron blocks, and so on, you must go through the entire menu each time you want to enter each specific work area, and only one work area can be open at a time. Allow multiple Circulation Parameters menu items to be used at the same time and make it easier to navigate to those items. CIR-‐‑62 OTHER Customize View Public Display Option We would like the option to have the View Public Display feature available in Search/Holds mode for a bib or item record to link to a catalog(s) that we specify and possibly a catalog(s) from a different vendor. CIR-‐‑63 OTHER Auto clear LPATRON after set amount of time. LPATRON info can be helpful to deal with damaged items, so it helps to be able to keep it for a short time. To protect customer privacy, staff tries to avoid keeping any long term links between customers and the items they have checked out. Currently the .p number of the last patron to checkout an item is retained in the LPATRON field until the item is checked out and returned. If no one checks out the item again, this information could be retained in perpetuity. Create an automatic process to erase the contents of the LPATRON field in the item record after a certain number of days to be set by the library. CIR-‐‑64 OTHER Floating Collection Management Floating has had a tremendously positive impact in many ways on library operations & collection development. However, it is not without its drawbacks. Many libraries face the issue of have too much or too little of titles, call number ranges or entire collection types. While Millennium/Sierra greatly facilitates the setup of floating collections, it needs to empower the user to determine, at the point of check-‐‑in, if they have what has been predetermined to be "ʺtoo many"ʺ of an item/call number for that location. This is not something that should be left for reports that can be reviewed later on (e.g. Decision Center), but for immediate action. For example, I check-‐‑in an item that I already have 4 copies of on shelf & rather than let it float into my collection, Millennium/Sierra will recognize that I have 4 copies & let me know what my options are: "ʺCheck the item in? Check the item in & send to last owning location?,"ʺ etc. Maybe concessions could be made for items that the branch owns but are currently checked out, since who knows where they'ʹll be returned? Perhaps there is something running in the background that would need to be setup by Collection Development staff so that the system knows x amount of shelf space at each location is devoted to this call number range or that? There'ʹs definitely a need for a way to manage the intake of material, that will also for it to be monitored, so it can be determined that branches aren'ʹt refusing everything that comes their way. CIR-‐‑65 OTHER SMS Call numbers Patrons would like the ability to text message item records, specifically call numbers, to themselves. It'ʹs efficient and sustainable. CIR-‐‑66 OTHER Ability to limit the option(s) staff have when noting an item Claimed Returned Currently, three options display when staff mark an item claimed returned. We would like only one of them to display, to eliminate staff error when selecting. We want staff to choose the following to make sure that the item being claimed progresses through the notice cycle & satisfies the interest of any potential audit if it is eventually not found & billed and/or waived: Leave item checked out, send overdue notices & change status to claimed returned. CIR-‐‑67 Collection Agency Provide access to Collection Agency database Libraries are unable to access the database which supports the Collection Agency functionality. The ability to view that database would allow for better statistical reporting and tracking. Allowing access to the database would also enable a library to force a patron account into collection status and retrieve patron records to create fine notices. Provide access to the Collection Agency database of patron accounts with options to create reports, add new patron accounts, and create fine notices. CIR-‐‑68 Course Reserves Deprocess reserve items by barcode in the system In the system, one must select an item from a list in order to remove it from a course. It is much easier to scan a barcode than to select from a list. If there are multiple items with the same title, one needs to compare barcodes to select the appropriate item. Even the slightest hand-‐‑eye coordination problem can lead to someone deprocessing the wrong item. This is available in character-‐‑based circulation. Provide the ability to deprocess a reserve item by barcode in the system. CIR-‐‑69 Course Reserves Expand limit for items attached to course reserves The course reserves module can be used for other temporary collections within the library, for example, new materials; special collection bookshelves, etc. It works very well, except that the number of items that can be placed on a course is limited. Increase the number of items that can be attached to a single course to at least 1500 per course. CIR-‐‑70 Course Reserves We would like to be able to place holds on hourly loan periods Currently, we have a manual procedure for generating waitlists for our course reserve high demand items. This means that sometimes, material is reshelved when there is in fact someone waiting for it. It would be nice to have a way to "ʺhold"ʺ material that has hourly loan periods in the system so that when the item is returned, we are alerted and an automatic email can be sent through the system through hold pickups. In addition, we would like the hold pickup by feature to allow for minutes/hours so that when an item is not picked up, it will automatically send a message to the next person on the list and a hold cancel message to the current person OR if no one else is on the waitlist, a message to staff to reshelve. In essence, a way to generate "ʺwaitlists"ʺ for reserve items within the course reserve module. CIR-‐‑71 Days Closed / Hours Open Improve Days Closed Table The Days Closed table should be integrated with the Hours Open Table and include the ability to add a year to the closed dates, add a range of dates, use wildcards (ex: 12/25/*) or (12/25/*-‐‑1/2/*), and be able to use search and replace. This would save time, reduce errors, and be a more efficient way to manage closed days and open hours especially for libraries with many locations. For libraries with loan periods longer than the 360 days of information currently stored, any loan rule longer than that is going to have unexpected behavior; the system will allow a due date in the next year that is in the Days Closed table. CIR-‐‑72 Recalls (Holds) Recall Cancellation When a recall is cancelled the system should keep track of the original due date and automatically revert back to it when a hold/recall is cancelled as well as then trigger a "ʺnever mind"ʺ notice to the borrower. Fines should also stop accruing when the recall is cancelled. Scenario-‐‑ Patron A has a book checked out. Patron B places a hold on book to have it Recalled. Patron B decides they no longer want to recall book. Either patron cancels hold from their patron account online or staff cancel hold in Sierra. There currently is no process for Recall Cancellation other than cancelling the hold and manually changing the original borrower'ʹs patron account. CIR-‐‑73 Loan Rules / Determiner Table Add the item status as an optional field in the loan rule determiner table. If we could set up loan rules that checked the current status of the item, it would allow more flexibility in handling holds -‐‑ things that were on the shelf could be holdable while things that were checked out could be non-‐‑ holdable. Other applications could be handling special cases. For example: Item status is "ʺon display;"ʺ loan rule then limits the loan period and imposes stricter fines or different notices. Item status is "ʺmissing;"ʺ loan rule then allows the item to be holdable by some patron types but not others CIR-‐‑74 Login Manager Ability to select multiple Logins when changing the message on the receipt printers, instead of having to do each one individually. We have individual logins for each department in our branches. When the message for the bottom of the receipt printers is changed it is necessary to go into each login via Login Manager and enter the change. Since our selfcheck machines use the System setting, we only have to make the change in one place for our selfchecks. When changing the message on the receipt printers we would like to be able to select all of the logins that need changing and just enter the message one time. CIR-‐‑75 Self Checkout / Express Lane Manage linked patron accounts on Express Lane Our library policy allows checkout of holds to any linked patron account. Express Lane should allow (if desired by library) access to linked accounts. If a patron scans his barcode and see he has holds available, he should also be alerted to holds/overdues/fines on linked accounts, be able to access those accounts and checkout, renew, pay fines, etc. CIR-‐‑76 Self Checkout / Express Lane Allow the minimum payment message to be customized In Express Lane when a patron selects Pay Fines, a message displaysat the top of the screen that says "ʺMinimum payment is [$xx.xx]."ʺ For libraries that allow any amount to be paid, we would like the option to not display that message. The documentation currently says it is customizable, but the Help Desk informed it actually is not. The default setting is .00, or it can say $.01 or {jumi [quipuScripts/enhancements/index.php][method=Ballots]}.00. This message can be confusing for a patron who may believe the minimum amount is what must be paid in order to check out materials. Another option would be to allow libraries to have a message that explains what the maximum owed limit is. For example: "ʺCharges must be under .00 to check out library materials."ʺ CIR-‐‑77 Self Checkout / Express Lane Allow the 4 special conditions in SIP2 checkin to be split into 2 configurable groups Since going live (in 2012) we have had a very negative response from both Patrons and library staff relating to SIP2 (express service). SIP2 Page # 107753 has 4 items grouped together and while we need this 2 options -‐‑ HOLDSHELF / TRANSIT the remaining 2 options (point 2 below) is having a negative impact and increases issues / concerns from patrons and staff. We need a minimum of Page Special Conditions be split into 2 groups:1. HOLDSHELF and TRANSIT2. Checkin Items that are already checked in and Checkin Overdue itemsThis would enable HOLDSHELF and TRANSIT being active while enabling libraries to not active the other options for items already checked in and overdues reducing the need for patrons to go to the desk.At present the "ʺEnable Checking In Items with Special Conditions Using the SIP2 Circulation Interface"ʺ feature can'ʹt currently be customized in this way -‐‑ it can only either be turned off or on. this is very limited functionality. CIR-‐‑78 Patron Blocks Make blocked activities configurable When a patron is blocked, they are blocked across the board. We would like to see this functionality made more granular. In our case, we block patrons at 25 dollars in fines. We offer them the ability to pay those fines via selfcheck. However, when the record is blocked, they do not have a way to pay those fines because the record cannot be pulled up on the selfcheck. What we would like to see is the ability to still allow certain functions to be performed in spite of the account being blocked, and we would like to choose which ones.
