FROM THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR
MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR
Greetings Lions, Lionesses, and LEOs,
Thank you to all the Lions and Lioness who attended the District Convention at the Wyndham Hotel in York on
April 25th. We were pleased to have PID Ted Reiver and his Partner in Service Lion Ann who both presented informative
talks as well as attending the various seminars that were available to our membership.
Our attendance was good but not as needed. A discussion was held on the future of our District Conventions
and we will continue this discussion through this next year as to its benefits. These concerns were also highlighted by
the announcement that the United States Lions Clubs will lose two directors over the next two years as a result of our
declining membership and participation as compared to the growth in other countries.
We now can refer to Lion John Griffie (New Oxford Lions Club) as DG Elect John and Lion Kerry as 1 st VDG Elect
Kerry McKnight (New Freedom Lions Club) since they were elected to their respective offices. Perhaps the banner that
DG Elect John used to solicit votes had something to do with it? This will be a strong leadership team going into the
2015-16 Lions year. Now we simply need to identify our 2nd VDG. The Delegates also approved increasing the District
dues from $1.00 to $2.00 per member affective July 1, 2015. PCC Gus Fridenvalds moved that DG Dennis Bell be
nominated as International Director Candidate from District 14-C. The membership verbally approved this nomination.
Finally, I want to thank you all for your continuing support and to congratulate DG Elect John and 1st VDG Elect
Kerry. I know you will all give them your highest support.
Yours in Lionism,
DG Lois Jean Mundorff

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE DISTRICT GOVERNOR
Dear Lions, Lionesses, and Leos:
April has been a very busy month. My wife and I enjoyed all of the Zone Socials and Anniversary celebrations! It
is very uplifting to hear what our clubs have been busy doing all year; we truly show others that "WE SERVE”!
The District Convention was a success and PDG George Reisinger and the committee did a great job! The
seminars were well attended and Necrology Service was beautiful. I am very proud to be District 14C's District Governor
Elect.
May 14-17 will be the State Convention. It would be great to see more Lions, Lionesses and Leo's attend this
convention since it is very close to home this year. The District and State Conventions are not just for PDG's, Committee
Members and Club Officers; we need to get more "Club Members" to attend and see what the District and State level of
Lions is up to. Lisa and I have gained many new friendships and more insight and enthusiasm as to how we can help our
own home club to grow and reach out to serve others, even more than before.
Your clubs will be receiving an email shortly with the tentative dates to visit each of your clubs. Please get back
to us as soon as possible to ensure that the correct dates are printed in the directory.
I am so excited for this upcoming year and will be honored to be your District Governor!
Yours in Lionism,
John Griffie Jr - Vice District Governor 14-C
DISTRICT WEBSITE
We continue to have growing issues with the current District Website and have decided to deactivate it and generate a
new one. Lions and Lioness secretaries will no longer need to complete the District monthly report. We will retrieve all
information possible from the site and transfer it as we can to the new one. Old District M&A reports may not be
available.
Lions must complete their MyLCI membership report monthly and should complete activity reports as appropriate. The
MyLCI membership and activity reports will be used for the Points Contest that will be reactivated in July 2015.
A new Lioness monthly report is still in work and will be announced in June 2015. Feel free to offer ideas on what you
would think is required for a Lioness report and what you would want your points contest to be measured against. We
expect to keep it simple and fare.
The new District Website is http://e-district.org/sites/14c/ .The current/old site is www.lions14-c.org and should be
viewed as inactive. If you have an LCI format site for your club, you will recognize the new site and be familiar with using
it. The site is still in work but is active. We expect much of the needed information for 2015-16 such as contact
information and links to club sites will be in place by June 2015.
Provide any comments/suggestions to PDG John Parker at [email protected] , 428-3983.

park? Consider renting the facilities at the Dallastown Lions Club
Community Park. The Lions have made extensive improvements to the
facilities in the park conveniently located directly across from the

toddlers, teens and adults. Two new riders have also been placed at the
park for the youngsters.
The park is available for everyone to enjoy and picnic tables and
horseshoe facilities are provided for those family picnics. The building, baseball field, and band shell are available for

JACKSONVILLE LIONS HOST 50TH EASTER EGG HUNT
Left: The Easter
Bunny welcomes
everyone to the
Jacksonville Lions
Easter Egg Hunt.
Right: The Easter
Bunny encourages
children to find
hidden candy and
eggs.
Below: A prize winner!
Nearly 70 children and their families
enjoyed the annual Easter Egg Hunt on
April 4. This marks the 50th annual
Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the
Jacksonville Lions Club for children of
the Walnut Bottom community.
The weather was cool but sunny, so the
hunt was held outdoors at the South
Newton Township Volunteer Fire
Company. Children were divided into
four groups. They searched for Easter
candies and eggs that Lions club
members had hidden. Those lucky
enough to find the specially tagged
items and even the gold eggs, picked a
prize from the winners’ table.
In earlier days, chocolate was nowhere to be found. Members and their helpers dyed hundreds and hundreds of hardboiled eggs. Children finding prize eggs received live peeps and bunnies! As time passed, candy eggs and chocolate
bunny prizes became more desirable for all concerned, except perhaps to parents whose children got a sudden burst of
energy from “chocolate overload!” Toys with Easter themes were given out as prizes again this year.
The Jacksonville Lions Club sponsors many youth-sponsored events, including recognition of area scholars' achievements
through the Student of the Month program and support for the high school's graduation party. The Jacksonville Lions
Club also loans hospital equipment to community members in need during their convalescence, and maintains collection
boxes for used eyeglasses, hearing aids and cellphones for recycling and distribution.
Student Recognition Night, sponsored by The Jacksonville Lions, will honor some of the community's graduating seniors
on Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the South Newton Township firehouse in Walnut Bottom. The public is encouraged
to come out and show support for the achievements of these community students. The ceremony is open to the public
and free of charge, with complimentary snacks and refreshment provided.
We serve!

JACKSONVILLE LIONS HONOR EIGHT BIG SPRING STUDENTS
Picture: (left to right): Starr Snyder, Ashley Snyder, Lowell Singer, Amanda Negley, Jenna Keller, Jaymi Feuchtenberger
and Paige Burrell (Jordyn Donnelly not pictured).
Eight area scholars from Big Spring High School were recognized for their academic achievement at April's
meeting of the Jacksonville Lions Club. Each student received a framed certificate of academic achievement and a cash
award. The students were accompanied by parents, family and friends.
Nearly 50 members of the community attended the event. Prior to the recognition ceremony, various members
of the Lions club presented a brief summary on Lionism at all levels, focusing on the Jacksonville Lions Club special
programs (student recognition, Easter egg hunt, loaning hospital equipment, Trunk or Treat, friendship suppers, eyeglass
& hearing aid recycling, etc.). Visitors were invited to attend a future meeting to consider becoming members.
The Jacksonville Lions' next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the South Newton Township
firehouse in Walnut Bottom. The meetings and activities are fast moving and well organized, requiring on average just a
couple hours per Lion each month. Potential members are encouraged to ask any Lion, drop a note to PO Box 67 in
Walnut Bottom, visit the Jacksonville Lions Club Facebook page and website http:/www.eclubhouse.org/sites/jacksonvillepa/ or better yet, come to the next meeting to hear about our service projects and
membership opportunities while enjoying a complimentary dessert.
