What are our fundraisers?
The City of Adelaide Lions Club is involved with, and
part of, numerous projects and events in the community
throughout the year. These include:
Blankets for the Homeless
We are dedicated to providing winter blankets to the
“sleeping rough” program in the city, parklands and
its environs.
Children of Courage Awards
The Children of Courage Awards provide recognition to
the many young people severely disadvantaged by a
variety of disabilities.
City of Adelaide
Lions Club
Chartered in 1961, the City of Adelaide Lions Club was
the first club established in South Australia and offers
people just like you the opportunity to give something
back to their community.
Today, with over 45 men and women, the City of Adelaide
Lions club are looking to expand their focus to help meet
the ever increasing needs of our society.
As a member of a Lions club, you become aware of
the needs of our community and have the advantage
to effectively make a difference. Our club provides
volunteers with project management assistance,
leadership training, personal development opportunities,
and organised fundraising programs. Being a City of
Adelaide Lions Club member provides an opportunity
for you to meet and work with like-minded individuals in
a spirit of fellowship, striving toward a common goal of
helping those in need.
SAPOL & Lions Citizen of the Year
The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide is proud to sponsor
the ‘South Australian Citizen’s Award’, and to present
it annually with the South Australia Police to the person
who performs extraordinary service to assist police in the
performance of their duties.
Bowel Cancer Awareness
The City of Adelaide Lions Club is a proud supporter of
the Jodi Lee Foundation.
Food Hampers
A special program established in conjunction with the
A.C.C. Welfare Department, almost 50 years ago, finds
the Club providing either ingredients or complete food
hampers, both at the Christmas and Easter festivals.
Fred’s Van
The Club became aware of Fred’s Van in the mid 1980s
and has been instrumental in increasing the frequency
of operation of this much needed service to the
community. Fred’s Van provides comfort and a warm,
nutritious meal for those experiencing homelessness or
at risk of homelessness and marginalisation.
Hutt Street Centre Breakfast
Our Club Members enjoy working with the Hutt Street
Centre’s capable staff, and are dedicated to continuing
their physical and monetary support of this well managed
agency which provides a range of services to homeless
and disadvantaged people.
Youth of the Year Quest
Lions Youth of the Year is an excellent means of
assisting Australia’s youth and promoting the essential
role of leadership development and community service
organisations in maintaining Australia’s high standard
of living.
Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation
The Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation has
been operating since it was formed at the Brisbane
Multiple District Convention in May 1999. In that time,
more than 1,730 children have been provided with
mobility devices.
In addition to these projects, our club holds many other
activities to help our local community, raise funds and
have fun.
