2015 Quarter 2
Get ready, get set, Go KP!
Thrive Wellness Walk
Are you ready to get motivated and get moving? Sign up for Go KP, a new
online wellness program, designed to help KP employees move more, have
fun, and thrive! With Go KP, you can use social and interactive features to
focus on your personal health goals — and challenge your co-workers to
make their health a priority, too.
What is Go KP?
Go KP is a total health program that you can use to track your personal
wellness goals on your computer or phone. When you log your activities,
you earn points and rack up milestone awards and badges. You can also
take advantage of social and interactive features to connect with your
colleagues and see your own progress:
•
Track a variety of healthy habits: Record exercise, water intake,
produce servings, sleep, and more! —and unlock a new photo and
inspirational message every day you log physical activity.
•
Share your own tips and inspirational stories: Post photos,
questions, and messages of encouragement on the Wellness Wall or in
the Regional Forum.
•
Challenge your co-workers: Earn points for initiating and completing
challenges like packing a healthy snack or doing an errand on foot.
•
Sync with Fitbit® or Jawbone™: Automatically populate your Go KP
account when you sync your device.
•
Rate and share healthy recipes and more!
Go KP registration is now open, and every week that you log activity during
the month of May earns you a chance to win a prize in a random drawing at
the end of the month. Sign up today at kp.org/gokp.
Go KP Challenges
The program launch is just the start: each quarter will feature a Go KP
challenge to add even more fun all year long. For the Go KP Team
Challenge in June, create a team of four or more, encourage one another to
be physically active, and compete against other teams in your facility,
region, and across the Program.
The winning teams will be those with the highest average scores across
KP. And all individuals who log the equivalent of 150 minutes of any kind of
physical activity per week will be entered into a random prize drawing.
Registration for the Go KP Team Challenge opens May 18 and the
competition begins June 1.

Chris McIntosh, IT Tech, knew he needed to make some lifestyle
changes. He joined the KP Bike Team and found that biking is
something he is passionate about. He decided to use biking as a
way to lose weight, reduce his blood pressure and in general, lead a
healthy lifestyle. By changing his lifestyle habits and biking
religiously, he was able to go from 336 lbs to 256 lbs. Chris logged
2000 miles on his bike over just three months (May - July) last year.
His goal is to complete a century ride (100 miles!). Chris is a mentor
to other cyclists and is a proud leader of the KP Thrive Bike Team.

This pesto is a great way to use fresh, flavorful
spring arugula. Try tossing it with pasta, spread
it on pizza instead of tomato sauce, mix it with
roasted potatoes, or use it as the base for a
vegetable dip.
Ingredients
•
•
•
•
•
•
1 clove garlic
5 cups baby arugula
½ cup finely shredded Asiago cheese
¼ cup toasted pine nuts
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
¼ teaspoon salt
Directions
1. With the motor running, drop garlic through
the feed tube of food processor; process
until minced. Stop the machine and add
arugula, cheese, pine nuts, oil, and salt.
Pulse and then process, scraping down the
sides as necessary, until the mixture is a
smooth paste.
Kitchen Tip
To toast pine nuts, place them in a small dry
skillet and cook over medium-low heat, stirring
constantly, until fragrant and lightly browned, 2
to 4 minutes.
