Introductions for Authors - Strategic Trade Review - 2015 I. Submissions a. Topics Considered Submissions must contribute new ideas and insights into the strategic trade field. The Strategic Trade Review’s editors welcome manuscripts related to any topic covering conventional or dual-use trade control, such as but not limited to: control regimes, legal instruments, national implementation, intangible transfers, transit/trans-shipment, enforcement, prosecution, extraterritorial application, capacitybuilding/outreach (strategy, methodology, lessons learned), comparative studies, historical analysis, human security, import control, end-user control issues, control lists, sanctions, definitions, parcel services, jurisdiction, risk-assessment, international cooperation, IT systems, customs and commodity identification, intelligence, regional cooperation, free trade zones, used items, corruption, gender, strategic trade control culture, emerging technologies, networking in the field, illicit trade and trade networks, industry outreach and compliance, cloud computing, and communication. b. Submission Requirements Manuscripts must not be in simultaneous submission elsewhere or have been published elsewhere. Only original work will be considered. Articles should be no shorter than 3,500 words and no longer than 10,000 words. Ethics Policy The Strategic Trade Review adheres to the Codes of Conduct and the Official Guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The Strategic Trade Review maintains a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism, falsification of data, misuse of third party material, fabrication of results and fraudulent authorship. Submitted manuscripts may be subject to checks using the iThenticate service, in conjunction with CrossCheck, in order to detect instances of overlapping and similar text. d. Review Policy The Strategic Trade Review is a peer-reviewed journal. The Editor-in-Chief initially reviews all submissions to the journal. All selected submissions are reviewed by at least two peer reviewers that are experts in the field of strategic trade. The reviewers will communicate acceptance of manuscripts for publication within six weeks of submission. If a manuscript is not acceptable in its present form, we will pass on suggestions for revisions to the author. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not conform to the standards of the journal. II. Style Guidelines a. The Strategic Trade Review values high quality writing in terms of style as well as substance. To that effect, authors should use simple and clear phrases and language and avoid self-references. b. Manuscripts should be submitted according to the following: • Times New Roman, 12 point • • Fully justified spacing Non-English words italicized • Number 10 and higher should be in figures • Quotations of more than four lines should be indented and single spaced with quotation marks Margins should be one inch on top, bottom, left and right • c.
