Reading Buddies
How to apply
This free summer program for Dorval Library
members brings together experienced, enthusiastic
readers and younger, beginner readers.
Application forms are available at the Library.
Little buddies (Grades 1 to 4) are paired with trained
teen volunteer buddies (high school students) to
spend time together and participate in one-on-one
reading activities.

Buddies meet for a 45 minute session per week, over 6 weeks.
The program starts the week of June 29, 2015.
Sessions are held at the Library under the
supervision of Library staff, and take place
between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m..
Sessions are adapted to the interests and
abilities of the young readers. In addition to
reading, activities may include: word games,
writing, and talking about books.

June 5, 2015.
** Space is limited! **
Reading Buddies is a volunteer based program,
so the number of spaces available can vary
year-to-year. Participants will be contacted to
confirm their session date and time. Applicants not
matched to a Big Buddy will be notified and put
on an interest list.
Big Buddies
Volunteer applications must be submitted by

Selected candidates

for an interview.

Big buddies are teen volunteers recruited
from the community.
Qualifications include:

positive references
a love of reading
The volunteers receive training to understand their
responsibilities, and learn about working with
children and helping them to read.
