Academy of Humanities & Urban Culture – HUC – Students have been receiving their college acceptance letters. Students will be attending NYU, Columbia, Bowdoin, St. John’s, Brandeis, Hunter, Manhattan and many other prestigious colleges. We have winners of the Gates Millennium Fellowship, Dell Scholars, Questbridge Fellows and POSSE Fellows. Our marching band was featured in a documentary that screened in over 70 countries. Global Languages Academy – LANG – We are inviting, with parent notification, for our seniors to take additional tutoring during period 9 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for regents examination support. Academy of Wellness & Education –AWE - We offer our students additional tutoring on Wednesdays for regents examination support. Our teachers are using the WITSI (Writing Is Thinking For Strategic Inquiry) sentence expansion strategy to help the students with their ability to write developed sentences with rich details. In May, we will have our first trivia competition, open to students who consistently attend classes and have passing grades. The top team will win a prize. Culinary Arts Academy – CUL – Four of our seniors were awarded culinary scholarships and internships from the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP). The winners were, Emily Tepoz, 4 year full tuition, Daniel Goodridge, 2 year full tuition, Leon Joshua Delos Reyes and Giovanni Angel Torres paid apprenticeship. Congratulations!
