Rislone® Ethanol Fuel Treatment Prevents
Costly Ethanol-Related Damage in Cars, Trucks and Boats
Holly, MI (Oct. 29, 2013) — Popular ethanol fuel mixtures like E10, E15 and E85 flex-fuel may
contribute to fuel system deterioration and engine problems for certain vehicle owners. Encourage
customers who store their vehicles for long periods of time, drive in high-humidity environments, or fill
trailered personal watercraft and boats at gas stations to prevent damage with new Rislone® Ethanol Fuel
Treatment. The super-concentrated formula provides ethanol stabilizers and conditioners not found in
traditional fuel additives.
Ethanol is known to corrode rubber and certain metals. Additionally, fuel blends with high
concentrations of ethanol typically have a shorter shelf life than pure gasoline. When allowed to sit in a
fuel system for more than even one month, these blends can damage lines, seals and gaskets.
Ethanol, which is usually corn-based, also absorbs water. This is especially problematic in marine
applications, since boats are equipped with vented fuel tanks and sometimes refueled at infrequent
intervals. Over time, the ethanol pulls water molecules from the air and induces phase separation. The
water settles at the bottom of the tank, causing sputtering and clogging issues. Given enough time,
ethanol can also dissolve the resin used in fiberglass fuel tanks.
“When customers ask about the effects of ethanol in their cars, trucks and boats, encourage them
to use Rislone Ethanol Fuel Treatment with every fill-up,” said Clay Parks, vice president of
development for Rislone. “Fuel system damage can be costly to repair, especially if the whole tank has
to be dropped or drained to remove separated fuel and dissolved materials. Ethanol Fuel Treatment
keeps fuel fresh over long periods of time and offers an inexpensive form of insurance against a fuel
system rebuild.”
Rislone Ethanol Fuel Treatment (P/N 4774) is compatible with all two-cycle, four-cycle, fuel
injected, direct injected, turbo and carbureted engines. It should be used year-round for optimal
protection against rust, corrosion, gum and varnish.
It comes packaged in Rislone’s new EZ Nozzle™ bottle, which is built to perform better than
standard additive bottles. The EZ Nozzle bottle features a built-in flow valve that prevents spills by
giving users time to properly insert the bottle into the fuel filler neck. EZ Nozzle is also designed to
work with capless or obstructed fuel systems. When inserted into a capless tank, the EZ Nozzle opens
the fuel system safety door and allows the additive to flow in smoothly.
One six oz. bottle treats up to 20 gallons of fuel. The user simply pours Ethanol Fuel Treatment
directly into the fuel tank and discards the bottle. The solution goes to work immediately.
Like all Rislone products, Ethanol Fuel Treatment is made in the U.S.A. It is available to
distributors in PDQ display case packs of 12.
