Redesigning the outdoor facilities of the Hogrefe Publisher Head Office in
Göttingen took place in the context of a restored art nouveau mansion.
The main goal of the design-concept was to create a sophisticated and
representative surrounding combining historical garden elements with a
modern and sustainable composition.
Combining those aspects the historic dimension and special character of the
mansion was considered to a high degree resulting in a modern and expressional
environment emphasising the significance of the head office.

Differently designed situations create a wide variety of places within the site.
A key aspect of the draft was to create functional and quality spaces to be
used by the employees on a daily bases and furthermore provide room for
certain events like festivities, receptions and small presentations.
The whole concept can be characterized being well balanced only gently adding new
features and at places which benefit from a modern highlight.

This concept was even followed when it came the choice of materials
and plants. Thus traditional materials and plants where used such as
limestone, marble and brick, rhododendron, box and roses.
However, partially the usage of expressional design elements like exposed
concrete, illumination or modern furniture where used to form contrasts
and set highlights.
The final draft was completed during a period of 10 month in 2011. The whole
outdoor enclosure has been finally opened October 2011.
