The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was the location of the April 7th LEPC meeting. Those in attendance were:

LEPC Chair Carrie Boettcher called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m., followed by introductions of those present.
There were 16 voting and 3 non-voting members present.

Almost complete

Discipline Reports:
Sheriff’s Office: First Dirty Kanza meeting next Wednesday.
Detention Officer moved into Ly 13 position and Ly 13 went to Court Security.
Road & Bridge: Participated in the Lyon County Reception Center exercise in March.
Westar Energy: Held training for Law Enforcement at Fire Station #2 with their HOT trailer.
Health Department: Logo changing again. Will need new ID’s made.
Preparedness Communication Systems Matrix was handed out.
Tyson Meats:
Holding Hazmat training.
Communications:
State Office of Emergency Communications (SMART NET) would like to
present to the LEPC. Was suggested they present to Law Enforcement
Supervisors and Department Heads instead.
Working on updating information on county sirens and a mass notification
system for all of Lyon County.
Fire Department:
Discussed the Eastwood Lake Apartment Fire. Dispatch, Law, Salvation
Army, Red Cross and Emporia Senior Center worked well together.
Grass fires down from last year’s number.
Fire Station 2 is lit up in blue for Autism month. Station 1 will also start
participating in a monthly change of colors in support of different causes.
Public Works:
EMS:
Frank Abart is the new Director.
Symphony in the Flint Hills is June 13th,Tallgrass Prairie.
Salvation Army: Will be attending the Wolf Creek drill in June.
Shawn Tyson is Division Director.
ESU:
Graduation is 2nd week of May with summer classes starting the following Monday.
