Spanish CASI into
Dutch Tomatoes
The Spanish cooperative CASI will start
selling Dutch tomatoes in Spain. The
organization from Almeria has hired a
distribution platform of 4,500 square
meters in Poeldijk, the Netherlands to
distribute Dutch tomatoes to Spain.
According to the Spanish horticultural
magazine F&H, the management of CASI

has contacted Dutch growers to buy
tomatoes from them to supply certain
Spanish customers. This will allow CASI
to deliver year round. CASI specializes in
tomatoes and is Europe’s largest supplier
with a volume of 240,000 tons.
No income tax for
flower growers Ecuador
The President of Ecuador signed a 100%
exemption to the advance payment
of income tax for flower producers
and exporters during the fiscal period
2015. The Ecuadorian flower growing
sector is facing a critical situation due
to a drop in the export levels, the
devaluation of the ruble and the euro,
the economic sanctions imposed by the
European Union to Russia, and the loss
of competitiveness against countries like
Kenya and Colombia, which is causing

Simple greenhouse
easily collects dew
Roots Up has designed a greenhouse
to collect dew. The collected water is
meant for watering the crops. It can,
however, also be used as drinking water if
needed. The greenhouse is set into a pit
in the ground and is built with bamboo, a
polycarbonate sheet, a bioplastic sheet,
ropes and a cistern water tank. It can be
constructed by unskilled people with just
