I was looking forward to finally being comfortable in my own skin again, literally, and that's exactly what happened. Camren Hall, 20 JMisko Patient ” I must admit the thought of someone doing a permanent procedure to my face, made me extremely nervous. But I determined that the acne scars were worse than the fear. After my consultation, I soon felt relieved and more excited than nervous. I was looking forward to finally being comfortable in my own skin again, literally, and that's exactly what happened. After just the first treatment of the CO2 resurfacing laser, I felt almost born again. I felt like I had my confidence and self esteem back. I would recommend anyone with any sorts of scarring, or skin problems to stop feeling self conscious or uneasy about them, and do something about it. It’s not only look-altering, but for me, it was lifealtering. -Camren Hall. cne can leave its mark for years in the form of scarring, pockmarks and other skin blemishes. While some skin resurfacing treatments like chemical peels and miscrodermabrasion can improve the appearance of acne scars, SmartXide DOT Therapy is the most effect for acne treatment and is also effective in stimulating the skin to rebuild and replenish its own natural collagen, filling in acne scars and improving overall skin appearance from within. Acne scars will generally reflect the severity of acne. More severe acne will mean more severe scars. Acne can often disappear only to leave a discolored or raised mark where it once was, or even small craters in severe cases. This redness often fades in a matter of months or in a year but in some cases these acne scars can be permanent. Luckily, scarring can be reduced or even disappear. Unlike other therapies that address bacterial symptoms only, SmartXide DOT Therapy treatments at JMISKO surgical design md target the source of overactive oil glands. The laser applies gentle pulses of energy over the treatment area. The energy penetrates deep into the skin to normalize oil glands and decrease their capacity to create acne. A study of patients who received SmartXide treatments found that most saw clearing of acne lesions after 4 monthly treatments. Results like these are a significant reason why so many people trust acne treatments. All types and stages of acne, including pimples, pustules, blackheads and cysts, can be improved with laser treatment. FAST is an acronym for Focal Acne Scar Treatment. This technique of treating acne scars uses fractional CO2 laser (SmartXide DOT) at very high settings to treat only individual scars. Traditionally, fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treats the entire face using a lower energy level. The FAST treatment allows for a stronger treatment for the acne scars, with a faster healing process due to the fraction of the skin being treated. Patients see 50 to 70 percent improvement just two weeks after a single treatment • In general, 1 to 3 treatment sessions will be scheduled, with the exact number depending on the severity of active acne or acne scars and how well the acne responds to each treatment. • Sessions will be spaced out about 2 months apart. In between each treatment you should see gradual improvement - a decrease in active acne and/or less noticeable acne scars. • Each acne treatment session will last about 15 minutes. • Results: CO2 laser therapy for acne is the most effective solution for painful, active acne as well as the scars it leaves behind. Acne improves and scars can diminish greatly after a series of treatments. Keep in mind that results will vary from patient to patient. Sun Spots Suffering from sun spots on skin? These unwelcome patches of darkened skin make life harder in the cover-up department, that's for sure. But, instead of merely covering up sun spots, take proactive measures in finding out what causes them and how to prevent more from popping up. Preventing: The incidence of sun spot formation can be significantly reduced by limiting direct exposure to the UV rays of the sun. Avoid sun-bathing and always wear sunscreen (SPF-30 or better) when outdoors. Although experts disagree on which products are safe, they all agree that we should be slathering on some type of product. So how do sun spots start? Basically, it's a side-effect of staying in the sun too long, hence their name (also called liver spots or, in some cases, age spots). Lentigines (sun spots or age spots) are very possible to get in the early 20s. More commonly starting to appear in the 3rd and 4th decade of life, they arise due to genetics, aging, and/or sun exposure. Sun spots on skin can also be a condition called actinic keratoses, which causes skin to turn a brownish-red color in certain spots. Theses spots are pre-cancerous and a physician might say that it's from not applying enough sunscreen growing up. Obviously, there isn't anything to do to go back and change that now, but there are proactive measures to fix the spots that exist now. Sun spots on skin don't just appear on the face. It can occur on the chest and neck, hands and arms. The more outside time without sunscreen on, the more likely the problem will be aggravated. Sun spots on skin require strong medicine. Topical treatments made with hydroquinone work to bleach the spots and even out the skin tone; however, measurable levels of hydroquinone are not available without a doctor's prescription. For a more complete and quick removal process Doctors can treat sun spots on skin with lasers. The lasers can prompt the skin to produce new melanin and exfoliate the outer layers, thus bringing the sun spots to the surface where the skin can shed them and allow new skin to emerge. Removal: Sun spots can be effectively removed with the laser technology at JMISKO surgical design md. Sun spots, which include age spots, liver spots, freckles, solar lentigines, and other benign pigmented lesions resulting from sun-damage, can be removed from nearly any body area. Most commonly we treat sun spots on the face, arms, hands, chest and back. “I had gotten the C02 resurfacing done in order remove acne • One or two laser treatments is all that is required to remove sun spots in most cases. scaring on my face. Our high-tech lasers smooth wrinkles, even the skin tone, remove blotchiness and imperfections, and diminish the effect of sun damage. DOT Therapy: The Newest Breakthrough in Laser Skin Resurfacing From the hills of Tuscany, comes the new "Ferrari" of lasers that can dramatically increase the texture and appearance of your skin: the SmartXide DOT™, affectionately known as the Smart Dot. DOT Therapy is the newest breakthrough technology in laser skin resurfacing that produces dramatic results in the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars on the face - it can also be used on almost any area of the body, including the hands, neck, decolletage, forearms and legs. The Smart Dot gently treats the skin in a "polka dot" pattern, sparing the bridges of normal skin that lie in between the areas that are "zapped" by the laser. These islands of untouched skin are the key to rapid healing: in many cases, instantaneous skin tightening is seen after a single session. This revolutionary procedure also stimulates your skin to produce its own collagen. The result? New, rejuvenated, smooth skin is born! Best of all, there's no need for anesthesia, no significant downtime, no extended recovery or prolonged discomfort. What conditions can be treated with laser resurfacing? •Erase fine lines and wrinkles of the face •Smooth and tighten eyelid skin •Improve crow's feet around the eyes •Soften pucker marks and frown lines •Remove brown spots and splotchy, uneven skin color •Improve and flatten scars •Repair smoker's lines •Improve skin tone and texture Discomfort is usually minor during the procedure, and our kind and caring staff will discuss the administration of any numbing cream or pain medication prior to treatment. Following skin resurfacing, the treated areas usually are kept moist with ointment or surgical bandages for the first few days. The skin is typically red or pink and may be covered with a fine crust. The treated sites must be protected from sunlight after the procedure. Once healing is completed, sunblock lotion should be applied. In some cases, a pink surface color may remain for several days to several months. Make-up can be worn after about 7-14 days.
