Main Street Altus is hosting a sidewalk chalk and banner contest and we want YOU to be there!! Main Street Altus is an award-winning Main Street Community with many dedicated volunteers. Main Street Altus produces several promotional events every year. As well as assisting with historic preservation and economic revitalization in the downtown district. Walkin’ on Chalk promises to be one of Altus’ favorite art festivals. This year’s festival includes a high school banner contest as well as coloring contest for the young and chalker competition for first grade up through an adult category. Food and craft vendors are welcome. Artist can begin as early as 11:00 a.m. and can continue until 3 p.m. when judging will begin. Winners are announced at 4:00 p.m. Cash awards will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category. Don’t miss the fun! General Rules Booth Size: 10’ x 10’ (unless permission granted otherwise) Exhibit Hours: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Set-Up: Exhibitors will be responsible for all booth structures, set up, and furnishings, e.g. signage, drapes tents, tables, etc. Vendors and booth participants can begin set up at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015. Booths must be open by 11:00 a.m. and remain open until 5:00 p.m. No Booths will be allowed to close early without prior permission from Main Street Altus. Make it a two-day event: setup begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015. Booths must be open by 11 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m. No booths will be allowed to close early without prior permission from Altus Live. Need a hotel room contact Main Street Altus. Facilities: Electricity will be available for food booths only if requested at the time of registration. No water will be available. Public restrooms will be provided. Tear Down: Participants are responsible for dismantling their booth and cleaning space before leaving. Security: Participants are responsible for the security of their goods. Main Street Altus accepts no responsibility for stolen or damaged property, accidents or injury Sales Tax: All vendors are required to collect sales tax. If you do not have an Oklahoma Tax Permit you will be required to turn your total sales tax into Main Street Altus at the close of the event. Additional Guidelines 1. Placement of the booths will be at the discretion of the Committee. 2. No participant will be allowed to set up without a signed and dated application and liability release. 3. The Committee reserves the right to revoke or refuse to grant space at any time, without recourse by the participant. The Committee shall not be liable to anyone for this action. 4. No booth space will be granted to those wishing to express religious, moral or political opinions. Display of information of that nature will result in expulsion from the event without recourse or refund. 5. All fees are non refundable. Inclement weather will not be grounds for refund. 6. No “boom” boxes or recorded music will be allowed in booth areas. 7. No exclusive rights for the sale of any item will be guaranteed. 8. No alcohol (including beer and wine) may be served.
