FIRE RETARDANT COATINGS & INSPECTION SERVICES
Application of fire retardant coatings are commonly used in the construction industry for the protection of structural
steel against fire. It is essential that these coatings are applied by experienced operators to achieve recommended paint film
thicknesses. The applications can either be done on-site during construction or at our in-house facility prior to construction.
Supervision and inspection for certification purposes is carried out by our qualified paint inspector who passed exams on completion
of a two week course at the Institute of Corrosion in Sheffield. This enhances the service on offer to our customers.
PLASTERING & TAPEING PAINTING & DECORATING
A comprehensive service can be offered with tapeing, filling and plastering carried out by skilled personnel. One contract
carried out included 3500m2 of taping and filling of plasterboard at Tesco Dundee.

STEAM / PRESSURE WASHING INSULATION FOAM SPRAYING
UHP water blasting is often the preferred
choice where dry blast cleaning is not practical. The
main advantage is that the process is a lot cleaner
without the clearing and disposal of grits that are
required for dry blast cleaning. Ultra high pressure
water blasting with a pressure of up to 30,000 p.s.i.,
can also clean surfaces back to the bare elements.
Polyurethane spray-on insulation foam can be
applied externally or internally. It can be applied to
roof spaces or buildings ultimately extending the life-span
of roofing materials or cladding. This system is versatile
and can be applied at unlimited thickness, giving a
Class 1 fire protection rating and excellent insulation
properties unrivalled by any other
materials on the market.
C ASE S TUDY
TESCO STORE, KINGSWAY, DUNDEE
Pic 1-3: The new supermarket on the Kingsway, Dundee is the largest store to be built in Scotland. It was completely painted and decorated from
the top of the entrance sign and archway externally, to all tapeing, filling, decorative finishes and internal steelwork. We had a team of up to 18
people working night and day shifts. Over the years we have been very proud of our involvement with Tesco and Barr Construction.
Various contracts have been successfully completed Nationwide, with our dedicated teams working closely with project managers to ensure
the highest standards of finishes. We are quite often called on at short notice to supply labour to help with the completion of finishings on
large contracts.
A.R.I CHILDRENS HOSPITAL ( ANTI-BACTERIAL COATING SYSTEMS )
Specialised Wallglaze Coatings applied to
Operating Theatres and Dental Surgeries at the
new Sick Children’s Hospital,Aberdeen Royal
Infirmary. These coatings are anti-bacterial.
Any bacteria are instantly killed once in
contact with this finish.
Multi-bed, High Dependency Unit,
coated with 2 Pack Wallflex. The
benefits are a self sterilizing, non
toxic performance which remains
constant throughout the lifetime
of the system.
Skilled personnel who take pride in the quality of
their work are always used in order to achieve
superior finishes. The specialist coatings can be
applied by either roller or airless spray. They are
hard wearing, easily cleaned and maintenance free,
a surface which will last for years.
KINNLOCH HOUSE HUNTING ESTATE
Kinnloch house required total redecoration
internally requiring specialised skills for the finishes.
These included rag rolling,stippling,scumble graining
and paper hanging. All external surfaces were cleaned
and treated with weatherproof applications providing
extra protection against the estates coastal location.
All external walls of Kinnloch were anti-fungicidally
cleaned and stabilised. Windows, facias, doors and
paths were masked and covered before airless
spray application which ensures a more even coat,
quality finish, enhanced weather proofing and
ultimately a guaranteed longer lifespan.
MAMBOS NIGHT CLUB
Peterhead’s premier night club was
re-decorated to the highest of
standards. The job was articulately
planned to ensure no disruption
and completed within 24 hours
leaving the management delighted.

P B P SERVICES
PBP Services was founded in 1968
by the late Peter Bruce (Patsy)
who served almost 20 years in the
merchant shipping services, where
he took particular interest in ships’
painting. He moved ashore to start up in business initially
painting the fishing boats around the North East Coast.
Over the years the Business has continued to grow in the
Marine, Industrial and Commercial Coatings Industry with
contracts awarded throughout Scotland and England by
Supermarket chains, Hospitals and Factories.
The business is now driven on by Peter Bruce Jr
who joined the family run company in 1984. With training
an ongoing process, more recently Peter Bruce passed
exams at the Institute of Corrosion, qualifying as a
registered paint inspector and fireproofing inspector.
