 Netherlands Business Support Office(NBSO) Ahmedabad takes the
pleasure of inviting members of Nehterlands Maritime Technology, who are
manufacturers/suppliers of ship-building components to visit shipyards situated
in the western part of Gujarat(Bhavnagar region). This visit programme is
supported and guided by Gujarat Maritime Board(Govt of Gujarat) specially
designed for the INMEX India visitors/participants.
The program is scheduled to visit three shipyards in Bhavnagar region of
Gujarat: Pipavav shipyard; Alcock Ashdown shipyard; and Modest shipyards. We
organise this programme with the support of the Gujarat local government, in
order to boost the business relationship between Gujarat and the Netherlands.
The purpose of this visit programme is to provide an overview of the shipbuilding
industry at the ground level in Gujarat; identify business opportunity for selling
your products/services; and to understand the prospects for the future business.
On the 22nd September a presentation is expected from all the Dutch companies
(5 minutes each), also the government will give you a presentation on make in
India to the delegation, followed by a networking lunch meeting.
About three Shipyards in western region of Gujarat: We are concentrating on
three shipyards: Pipavav; Alcock Ashodown; and Modest Infrastructure.
1. Pipavav Defense Offshore Company (PDOC) has developed an Integrated
shipbuilding , Ship / Rig Repair & Conversion , Defense Ship production and
Offshore construction & Heavy Engineering facility at the Port of Pipavav, Gujarat
. This manufacturing facility has a highly modern fabrication, piping, painting
shops of 12000 tons per month capacity, together with the largest Dry-dock in
the country of, 662 m X 65 m size with 2 X 600 ton SWL Goliath Cranes.
Its infrastructure includes: Specialized jigs and fixtures with rollers and
conveyers; forming facilities; welding automations, machine shop; pressure
testing facilities; and in-house laboratory for various destructive and nondestructive testing.
It has good infrastructure for building naval ships, Oil & Gas vessels;
Commercial vessels; etc.

2. Alcock Ashdown(Gujarat) Shipyard, which is located at Chanch
Bandar(port) in Taluka Rajula, Amreli District, Gujarat. This is 10 KM from the
Pipavav Shipyard, GUJARAT, INDIA. It also has another facility in
Chanch(nearby), which is the largest dry-dock on the northwestern coast of
India with the direct access to the sea.

3. Alcock Ashdown (Gujarat) Ltd, located at Old Port, Bhavnagar is
originally a British owned company which went into liquidation and later taken
over by Government in 1975., later acquired by govt of Gujarat in 1994. It has
become a major centre for ship building, conversion, and overhaul projects.
They are more ingaged into seagoing grade steel vessels for various purposes as
well as inland and coastal class ships and boats.

4. Modest Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.
A. Ramsar Shipyard:
• Currently operational Ramsar Shipyard is situated on Western Coast of
India at Bhavnager in the state of Gujarat.
• It complies with ISO 9001:2008 Certification of the Indian Register of
Quality Systems.
• It has a 220 meters waterfront.
• Presently, MIPL builds vessels up to 110 mtrs in length and 20 meters in
breadth with launching draft of 4.5 mtrs.
• The facility is equipped to build vessels up to '8000' DWT.
• This yard at Ramsar has been designed to facilitate the construction of
eight vessels simultaneously.
• The Yard has a side launching facility
• Two Dry Docks for vessel building and repairs.
• Dry Dock No. 1: 95m x 16m x 3.5m, Dry Dock No. 2: 120m x 21m x 4.5m
Other facilities include steel stock yard, surface treatment area, PVGL / Captive
Power, Machine Shop, CNC Cutting Machines, a Bonded Warehouse and a
General Warehouse.
B. Ratanpar Yard: This shipyard is situated on the Western Coast of India at
Bhavnagar in the State of Gujarat on the Gulf of Cambay.
•
The Shipyard shall be equipped to build 1 ship of 45000 DWT, 3 ships of
20000 DWT and 6 OSV / PSVs per year.
• The yard shall be equipped for afloat repairs of Offshore rigs and OSV /
PSVs.
MIPL’s new shipyard at Ratanpar is expected to commence operations from June
2016.
