GSBTM will promote, support and facilitate the development of biotechnology in the state by promoting research and development, by generating the quality human resource in the field of biotechnology and by supporting the development of biotechnology industries/products by taking effective measures and policy and planning level. Human waste disposal in innocuous form is an ever growing problem leading to aesthetic nuisance, threat of organic pollution & several infectious diseases in epidemic proportions due to contamination of ground water and drinking water resources in highly populated and developing countries, like India. Less than 30% of Indians have access to the toilets. In rural areas about 10% of houses have toilets and rest of the people go to open defecation. Population in the cities although have better access to the toilets but only to the tune of ~70%. Untreated waste is responsible for several diseases like, dysentery, diarrhoea, amoebiasis, viral hepatitis, cholera, typhoid etc. taking the lives of lakhs of children annually. GSBTM aims at promoting Biotech products such as Bio-Toilets for such important sanitation related problem, esp. in light of Mahatma Gandhi – Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Technical Specifications: GSBTM is looking for the solution involving bacteria which feed upon the fecal matter inside the tank, which finally degrade the matter completely through biological processes, leaving no residue, whatsoever, and releasing odourless & colorless water, appropriate for release on land as per CPCB/GPCB standards. Objective: The proposed design(s) should have the following features: 1. Bio-digestion based 2. Minimum Maintenance 3. Cost Effective Submission from Agencies involved in BIO-TOILET The Expression of Interest should contain following: 1. Detailed designs for different Models of Bio-Toilets, if any with specifications of Raw materials to be used. 2. Explain mechanism of the Technology 3. USP of their technology & Advantages over other competing technologies and/or Models 4. Indicative Pricing giving break-up (for e.g. For Toilet Structure/ Bio-digester, etc.) BIO-TOILET Suppliers are required to submit their details as mentioned above in separate cover –appropriately super-scribed with name as “Expression of Interest for Selection of BIO-TOILET Supplier”. The outer envelope shall indicate the name and address of the agency to enable the EoI to be returned unopened in case, it is declared ‘late'. A Committee will scrutinize the EOIs on the basis of different parameters. The agencies may ask the agencies to present details of their Technology/Model at an office in Gandhinagar, if required. The committee will finalize the design, model and technology used in the Bio-Toilet and may also fix the price for the same.
