MASCC/ISOO Study Group Workshop MASCC 2015 Copenhagen, Denmark Meeting Title of Workshop: Educational challenges: Strategies to provide excellent cancer care in underserved population [3 hours; 30 minutes] MASCC members are committed to making a difference – for our patients and in defining better ways to practice supportive care in cancer. In this spirit of leadership, the Education Study Group invites you to the first MASCC symposium specifically addressing the needs of medically underserved populations worldwide -- potentially underserved because of age, disabilities (sensory, functional, cognitive), gender / sexual orientation, geographic isolation or limitations, language, literacy, race / ethnicity/ cultural minority status, refugee or immigrant status, or socioeconomic instability. Underserved populations, by definition, can fall through the cracks of our best intentions. This unique symposium promises to be an exciting and informative session – please join us! Welcome and brief introduction of plan for the workshop. The goal of this workshop is to bring together the latest evidence on the understanding of the assessment, subtypes, mechanisms and management in advanced cancer patients with CRF [5 minutes] Plenary Presentation #1: Manon Lemonde, RN, PhD Results of the survey [10 min] Plenary Presentation #2: Niharika Dixit MD, Greg Crawford MD & Paz FernandezOrtega RN, MSc, PhD Discuss the definition of what underserved populations mean and share real life experience with these patients, including background and needs.
