Charge the Camera Ensure your Matterport Pro 3D Camera is charged. To see the Camera’s battery level, power it on and look at the Camera’s display. If the Camera has been idle for some time, charge it for at least 4 hours prior to use. • During charging, the power button will blink once every few seconds • Once the camera is fully charged, the power button will blink twice every few seconds The Camera can scan for 8 to 10 hours on a full charge 2. Mount the Matterport Pro 3D Camera to a Tripod A sturdy tripod provides the ideal platform for capturing data. In most cases optimal camera height is near eye level at about 5 foot 6 inches. You can raise or lower the Matterport Pro 3D Camera to capture different perspectives. Ensure the Camera mounting plate is secured firmly to the tripod. A loose tripod warning from the Capture App means that you should more firmly secure the Camera to the tripod. Be sure to level the camera before starting each Scan. You can use the level on your tripod if it has one. 3. Turn on the Matterport Pro 3D Camera Press the power button on the back of the Camera. The button will light up and blink for a few seconds, then turn solid blue. At this time, the Bluetooth and Wi-‐Fi symbols will also start to blink, indicating the Camera is ready for a connection. Avoid capturing moving objects like people and pets Try to maintain consistent lighting throughout the space Avoid bright or direct sunlight ((use shades or drapes when available) Close doors to rooms that you don’t wish to capture Position the camera at a eye level in places where people are likely to stand Stay out of the Camera’s view Make additional scans in areas of interest Choose your scan locations so as to avoid large black areas in the Floor Plan Scans should be 5 to 10 feet apart A typical house requires 50 to 150 Scans After each Scan, you can tap “Mark Features” to indicate windows and mirrors © 2014 Matterport, Inc. Page 8 Matterport 3D Capture App User Guide Floor Plan Scan button Floor Label Camera battery indicator Scan A Scan is one 360-‐degree rotation of the Matterport Pro 3D Camera. Each Scan is represented as a number on the Floor Plan. A room measuring 30 x 30 feet will require multiple Scans from different placements within the room. A Scan takes about 90 seconds to complete. The total number of Scans needed to create a model depends on the nature of the space, how many objects it contains, and how detailed you wish your Model to be. Floor Plan The Floor Plan, shown above, is a low-‐resolution, top-‐down view of the areas that have been captured. Incomplete areas of the floor plan represent areas that have not yet been captured. Use the floor plan as a guide as you continue through the space. Begin Scanning Place the Camera where you would like to start. Tap Create a New Model on the Home screen of the Capture App. With your iPad in hand, step out of view of the Camera’s. (Alternatively, you can walk behind the camera as it rotates.) Tap the blue, circular Scan button. © 2014 Matterport, Inc. Page 9 Matterport 3D Capture App User Guide The Camera will rotate 360 degrees. After each scan, the Camera will transfer data to the Capture app. The Capture app then processes the data and displays each Scan on the Floor Plan as a numbered blue circle. Move the Camera to Another Position Move the Camera to a new position, approximately 5 – 10 feet away from the previous Scan. Make sure the new location is within line of sight of the prior placement. The Camera must be able to see overlapping objects or walls so that the new Scan can be aligned to a prior Scan. The camera will automatically try to align itself against both the last scan, and all prior scans. Repeat the scan procedure as needed until you have captured the desired space. Delete a Scan You may capture a room or area that you later decide you don’t want. To delete a Scan, tap Edit, tap the Scan number you would like to delete, then tap Delete Scan. Multiple Floors For multiple floors, first add as many floors as the space has (e.g. three floors for a three story townhouse, for example). Tap Main Floor, then tap Add New Floor. For clarity, we recommend that you label the floors in the Capture app in the same order that they appear in the property (e.g. top floor at top of list, bottom floor at bottom of list). As you capture a floor, we recommend that you mark windows and mirrors as you go. Scan up the stairs, ensuring that each Scan aligns. At the top of the stairs, take a Scan, then tap Edit Scans to move the Scan to the new floor. Continue scanning the new floor. Tips •

Landings or sunken living rooms should belong to the floor they are closest to instead of being their own floor As you capture a floor, mark windows and mirrors as you go. Marking mirrors as soon as you encounter them improves Model accuracy. © 2014 Matterport, Inc. Page 11 Matterport 3D Capture App User Guide Prepare the Model for Processing Check for Complete Coverage You may notice that some areas of the Floor Plan are incomplete. You will need to move the Camera to a new position and take another Scan to fill in this space. If there are incomplete areas, continue scanning until all desired areas in the Floor Plan are filled in. You can pinch or zoom on the Floor Plan to change its size. You can also drag the Floor Plan around the screen.. Note that the Camera will automatically shut itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity. As you scan, mark windows and mirrors in Capture. Tap on the icon for the feature you would like to indicate. The Floor Plan on Capture will not change, but the final model on my.matterport.com will be improve according to your marks: •

Mirrors will be replaced with dynamic reflection Windows will be replaced with a static image from the Scan Trimmed content will be deleted. To mark a feature, tap and drag along the wall where the window or mirror is located. You may want to zoom in the Floor Plan. The line needs to be on the window or mirror and needs to cover the length of the window or mirror. You can tap and drag the end points to fine tune positioning. Confirm the orientation of the mark-‐up line. Make the line as long as the window or mirror, or slightly longer. Light colored labels should be on the inside of the room. Tap on one of the end points to reverse the orientation or to delete the mark-‐up. © 2014 Matterport, Inc.
