How is a sample collected?
A DNA sample is collected
by rubbing a soft swab along
the inside of the cheek - a
process that is gentle enough
for newborns. For a Legal test,
one of our authorized agents will verify your identity
and collect the cheek swab. For a Curiosity test,
you can collect the samples yourself, using kits that
we ship to you.
Does the child’s
mother need to be tested?
No - but it is strongly recommended. Testing the
mother allows us to isolate the biological father’s
contribution to the child’s DNA profile. That results
in better quality and reporting with a higher
probability of paternity for the true biological father.
Do all people being tested need to
attend the DNA collection together?
No.
How long will the results take?
Results for a standard DNA test are reported in
3 to 5 business days from receipt of all required
samples at our laboratory.
