Frequently asked questions If you have questions regarding DNA testing to confirm the biological father of your child (paternity test) or questions about other biological relationships, we have the answers... How is a sample collected? A DNA sample is collected by rubbing a soft swab along the inside of the cheek - a process that is gentle enough for newborns. For a Legal test, one of our authorized agents will verify your identity and collect the cheek swab. For a Curiosity test, you can collect the samples yourself, using kits that we ship to you. Does the child’s mother need to be tested? No - but it is strongly recommended. Testing the mother allows us to isolate the biological father’s contribution to the child’s DNA profile. That results in better quality and reporting with a higher probability of paternity for the true biological father. Do all people being tested need to attend the DNA collection together? No. How long will the results take? Results for a standard DNA test are reported in 3 to 5 business days from receipt of all required samples at our laboratory. TheDNALab.com Four easy steps 1. Order your kit online or call us 1.877.706.7678 to discuss your specific situation with one of our DNA experts. 2. Kits are mailed to you directly for curiosity tests or sample collection is arranged for legal tests. 3. DNA samples are sent to our laboratory for analysis. 4.
