On February 3, 2015, the Board of Supervisors Development Process Committee
authorized County staff to advertise for public hearing a new Noise Ordinance that,
among other things, would raise the permitted maximum noise level for activities on
school and recreational grounds from 55 decibels to 72 decibels, and allow 65
decibels in Mixed-Use areas 24 hours a day, the same level allowed in Commercial
districts.
In response to resident interest and concerns about the proposed changes to the
County’s noise ordinance, the McLean Citizens Association, in collaboration with
Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust, cordially invites you to an information
forum with County staff to learn about the proposed changes to the County’s noise
ordinance. Staff will explain why they have proposed changing the ordinance and
what the proposed changes will mean for you. There will be ample time for you to
ask questions, share your views, and express any concerns that you may have.
Please come and invite your friends and neighbors.
