Though some universities have closed their application process for the Term starting in September
2015, there are still opportunities to submit an Application for Admission to a variety of Metro
Vancouver, provincial and other universities/colleges across Canada. Check individual
university/college websites for their Application for Admission details or visit with your Career Advisor
if you would like more information about the application process.

event where you'll get your questions answered, connect with the UBC community, and start preparing
for life as a UBC student. This event is only open to students who have been admitted to UBC. Parents
are welcome to attend and are invited to attend a special parent session where they can learn more
about supporting you in your transition to UBC. Canadian or international high school students living
in Canada and attending a Canadian high school may be eligible for the travel reimbursement
program. (Students will be notified of their eligibility for the reimbursement program with their offer of

Registration 101 Workshop in Vancouver - April 25th
These workshops are designed to help high school students who have received an admission offer,
register in their university courses for the 2015-2016 school year. The workshop includes a
presentation outlining how to navigate the Bear Tracks system for the purpose of course selection and
registration, and Q & A. U of A representatives will be in Vancouver on April 25th. General Online Reg
101 sessions will be available on April 15 and 28 for students who are unable to attend one in person.

Science Advising Sessions In Vancouver Area - April 24
The Faculty of Science is hosting personalized 20 minute advising sessions on Friday, April 24, 2015
between 4:00-7:00pm for Vancouver area students. A Faculty of Science advisor will be available to
answer questions about science programs, course planning, and more in preparation for the transition
to the University of Alberta. Sessions will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Metrotown, Burnaby, BC.

Grade 12 students who have received an offer of admission and plan to attend the University of
Alberta in Fall 2015 will be receiving a special invitation to attend an On Your Way to the U of A event

MAY 4 & 5/15 AND MAY 6 & 7/15 Douglas College Jumpstart Orientation for Fall 2015.
The event will take place from 5:00pm-8:45pm on May 4 & 5 at the New Westminster Campus, and
May 6 & 7 at the Coquitlam Campus. The evening will include a session on how to select and register
for courses, a Student Panel, and information regarding Financial Aid. We’re looking forward to
welcoming new students to our community and getting them ready for College life! If you have any
students who have been accepted to Douglas, we highly recommend they register for this event. For

5 MAY 25 & 26/15 Find Your Fit Event (Career Exploration)
This is a B.C wide interactive education program that offers students a hands-on way to experience
WorkBC's labour market information tools and services. As part of the broader WorkBC program, the
tour links youth with labour market information tools and services available through WorkBC.ca. Find
Your Fit is designed for youth in grades 6 through to 11. It's also helpful for parents and career
counsellors looking for ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration. The day
portion of the fair is reserved for school groups. Students and parents wishing to attend on their own,
outside school hours, may attend during the evening session May 25th from 3-7pm and don't need to
register. The event will be held at the Westin Wall Centre 3099 Corvette Way, Richmond BC. To find

MAY 26/15 Important KPU 'Registration Workshop' @ McMath
Mark your calendar..... Are you attending Kwantlen in September? If so, your Course Registration
date will be coming up. During this process, KPU will send you a specific date/time that you enter your
'myKwantlen' portal and choose classes for your September 2015 start date. To receive helpful hints
on this selection process, attend the upcoming Registration Workshop at McMath. In addition to our
KPU representative (Jan Castro) attending this session, a KPU Academic Advising will be present to codeliver the Registration Workshop. Students will learn how to search for classes at KPU and navigate
myKwantlen, in addition to receiving information on course planning. Plan to attend. See Ms. Bernard
in the Career Centre to sign up for this important session.

You are invited to the North Vancouver campus to learn more about Capilano U at the upcoming
information session. At Explore Capilano, representatives from all program areas are on hand to

JUN 14/15 South Asian Family Association (SAFA) Scholarship deadline
The South Asian Family Association offers three scholarships in the amount of $1000 each in the
following categories:
(1) Academic Excellence
(2) Excellence in Community Involvement
(3) Excellence in Fine Arts
In order to be eligible for a scholarship, a student must: be a student of South Asian descent, be a
Canadian citizen or permanent resident within the meaning of the Immigration Act, be enrolling in
his/her first year of full-time studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada or abroad, and be

Young Entrepreneurship Leadership Launchpad Course - Open to high school students in Gr's 10 to 12,
interested in gaining knowledge and leadership experience in all areas of business and
entrepreneurship. The YELL course is based on the Lean Launchpad Start-up program model for
university students and is in partnership with UBC Sauder School of Business. Meetings will be held at
Richmond Secondary. This is a tuition free course.

This is a volunteer opportunity for students currently in grades 10 - 12 who are interested in

May 25/15- Camp Ignite Application Deadline (firefighting camp for girls)
This is a four-day camp that educates and inspires young women to follow their dreams. The camp is
open to girls in grades 11-12 (ages 16-18), and gives them an introduction to the world of firefighting.
Each girl will learn about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. This year’s camp will run from
