With focus on the concept of Circular Economy, we look for companies that implement new business models, eco-design and industrial symbiosis towards the European Commission Zero Waste targets for 2030. The objectives of the event are to: Assist Spanish companies in the Waste sector with their needs by putting them in touch with British providers of state-of-the-art solutions. Provide information about opportunities in the UK to Spanish companies able to help the UK reach its 2020 recycling targets. Total UK Waste Sector contributes c.0.8% to UK GDP and was valued at >£18 billion in 2012. Two-days (to be confirmed) programme in Barcelona divided in two blocks: Day 1: Reception and half-day Conferences: Over the past 10 years there has been a significant shift to recovering more value from our waste with the share of value added from material recovery growing from 19% in 2003 to 33% in 2012. The Material Recovery sector employed 28,000 people, had a annual turnover of £8.2 billion, purchased goods, materials and services worth £6.2 and contributed £2 billion to GVA. SPANISH MARKET STRUCTURE According to ICEX, Spain is amongst the Top 10 countries of Europe in recycling. Spanish waste sector has a turnover of €5,270Mill. which represents 13% of the environmental market, with more than 700 societies dedicated to waste management and which generates more than 30,000 direct jobs and 100,000 indirect jobs. Spanish industrial recycling industry is a booming sector that accounts not just with major companies in infrastructure and operation facilities, but which involves in-depth knowledge and advanced technologies. By exporting know-how, those companies have found a channel to support the economical crisis, and even grow.
