Vosburg receives Community Mental Health certification
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — Commissioner Kathy Vosburg recently received certification from
the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards for governance and leadership
development.
Vosburg, a Macomb County Community Mental Health Board member, received the certification
after completing the Association’s BoardWorks 2.0-The Governance and Leadership
Development Program. There are 11 workshops that must be completed in the program in order
to earn certification. Workshop topics range on everything from funding to participatory
government and ethical implications of decisions.
““The BoardWorks 2.0 Program provided me the opportunity to strengthen my leadership skills on
the CMH Board by systematically learning about Michigan's Community Mental Health Code
along with the foundations of how a Community Mental Health system should operate,” said
Vosburg.
The Macomb County Community Mental Health Board is a 12 member board that oversees
Macomb County’s Community Mental Health Services Agency. In broad terms, the Community
Mental Health Services Board is charged with providing a comprehensive array of mental health
services appropriate to needs of the primary consumers located within its service area, regardless
of the ability to pay for the service. By statute, the members are representative of providers of
mental health services, recipients or consumers of mental health services, agencies and
occupations having a working involvement with mental health services and the general public.
