Capturing The Truth
Protecting Video Interviews As Evidence
Law enforcement agencies
routinely conduct video interviews
with suspects that are too often
challenged or dismissed as
evidence once they get to the
courtroom. Traditional DVR based
systems are often called into
question because of the perceived
ease of file manipulation,
duplication or tampering. Issues
with conducting and managing
the actual interview can make the
process costly, cumbersome, and
inefficient. They can limit officials in
the following ways: the number of
interviews that can be conducted at
the same time, the ability to view
video from multiple locations, the
inability to quickly locate important
video, and maintaining the security
and integrity of the files.
These combined limitations provide
a gap that can potentially damage
the credibility of the agency, allow
criminals to avoid prosecution
• Easy to use and configure solution saves time and resources.
• Accurately describe and categorize interview video.
• Broadcast quality MPEG4 video
offers high quality and reduced storage.
• Automated chain-of-custody saves precious time and cost.

accused of misconduct.
Configured to your specifications,
Tracer, MediaSolv’s Video Interview
Solution is designed to capture
video and audio recordings during
interviews and maintain them as
evidence for court proceedings. Our
solution was developed from the
ground up after consulting with law
enforcement officials to understand
how to specifically meet the diverse

needs of police departments, courts, and other
authorized users. The solution is highly flexible and
scalable and can support the smallest agencies up
to the largest metropolitan agencies with multiple
divisions, areas, and precincts. Tracer was designed
to grow as your department grows.
Scalable To Meet Your Needs Into The Future
Video can be viewed during the live interview from
multiple locations within the same building or across
multiple buildings in different locations. Interviews
can be reviewed later by anyone with rights and
permissions to view the files on the network. Tracer
allows you to accurately describe and categorize
digital assets with easily configurable, user-managed
attributes. Access to recorded video can be as open
or restricted as your department desires and is based
on easy to configure roles and permissions. Manually
tracking the chain-of-custody is time consuming
and costly. Tracer incorporates a chain-of-custody
process for automatically tracking the recordings to
provide proof of who has accessed the file, when it
was accessed, and whether any type of action (such
as DVD duplication) occurred to the file. An audit trail
report can be generated to show the history of the
file from the time it was recorded.
Commander has the capability to store digital
assets from multiple sources, including in-car video,
surveillance video, digital photos, audio files, hard
drive images, and documents. This integration
provides a powerful evidentiary toolkit for tracking,
managing, and securing all digital assets related to a
case in one comprehensive database.
Optional Touch Screen Panels For Automation
Touch screen panels can be added to the solution
for an automated and streamlined process that is
extremely simple. The interviewer simply walks up
to the interview room, enters information about
the the case and presses the record button to begin
recording. This allows every second of the interview
to be captured on video and reduces the possibility
of being wrongly accused of any wrongdoing during
the interview.
Some of the key benefits of the Commander Digital
Evidence Management solution:
∙ Manages digital evidence including video (in-car, interview, and surveillance), photos, audio files, hard drive images, etc.
∙ Workflow automation capabilities.
∙ Share digital evidence across your agency, city, county or state.
∙ Ability to extract event video based on bookmarks and video tags, automatically distributes to assigned network storage.
∙ Quickly locates all information related to a case or incident with one simple search query.
∙ Significantly reduces storage requirements.
∙ Retains or deletes digital evidece based on its importance.
∙ Customizable folders allow you to structure information based on different needs of departments, agencies, or divisions.
∙ Audit trail reports display who, what, when and where files have been accessed.
∙ Rights and permissions based access to digital evidence.
• Categorize storage based on the importance of the digital evidence.
• Automatically send your most important digital
evidence to higher cost, redundant storage for long term storage and save your less important evidence to short term.
