Artistic Dance News No 21 April 2015 Dear Members and Friends of Artistic Dance! The new competition season continues to develope as expected. Two more events were successfully organised in the first part of April. Both events covered the Street and Pop Dance disciplines. The first was held in the city of Heemstede just outside Amsterdam, Netherlands, the second was the WADF European Street and Pop Dance Championships in Tallinn Estonia. We are very satisfied with both events. The WADF Dutch Open Street and Pop Dance Trophies was our first event in the Netherlands. Around 200 dancers, who are completely new to the WADF, took part with the interest in this event from many Dance Schools in Holland was very high. We have had numerous reports from participating schools that the event was a success. We thank the organisers Frank and Romy de Vos for an excellent event. We are now planning for a new and larger event to be held later this year. The European Street and Pop Dance Championships in Tallinn Estonia, is an established event that has been running for 10 years as the Baltic Cup, which was the title used for the Open disciplines and the Beginner classes. Almost 1.000 dancers took part from 7 countries making it a fabulous success. The quality of the dancing was extremely high and the 14 judges worked very hard to find the winners of the WADF Championship titles. We saw of course the established dances; Urban Street, Urban Pop, and Urban Street Dance Show in addition to the new WADF disciplines like House, Locking & Popping and Slow Acrobatic Disco Jazz Funk. We would like to thank the excellent team led by the experienced organiser Triina Utt and her assistants Teele (Chairman of Adjudicators) and Kristiina as Compere. The scrutineering team Käthlin and Aku were very efficient and was the DJ Sergucci Simonov. We will see you all again in December, when we will be presenting the WADF Christmas Grand Prix in Tallinn again. Now we are concentrating on the Romanian Open in Timisoara coming up on 1st & 2nd May. More then 800 dancers have enrolled from 5 countries and 33 Schools and Clubs. I am sure it will be another great WADF event. Nils-Håkan Carlzon President WADF BREAKING NEWS Change of Venue The WADF Artistic Dance European Championship scheduled for 13th-14th June has been moved from Mikolajki. to Plock, near Warsaw. The reason for this move is that the three (3) hour drive from Warsaw Airport to Mikolajki would have caused extra problems for many competitors and an unnecessary time consuming exercise. The hotels in Plock are much cheaper than in Mikolajki and the reservations can be made much later, which was another reason for the move close to Warsaw Airport.
