Job Profile
The Restaurant Cashier is in charge of the register. This would include cash and credit card
transactions, tipping out wait staff, and balancing the register at the end of the shift. The cashier
may assists the Wait Staff with various tasks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
 Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards.
 Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
 Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are
correct and that there is adequate change.
 Sort, count, and wrap currency and coins.
 Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
 Establish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using
calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
 Greet customers entering establishments.
 Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.
 Resolve customer complaints.
 Cash checks for customers.
 Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total
sales.
 Compute and record totals of transactions.
 Offer customers carry-out service at the completion of transactions.
 Request information or assistance using paging systems.

Personal Specifications
Knowledge and Qualifications
 Certificate in accounting .
Experience
 At least two years cashier experience.
 At least one year’s experience as a restaurant cashier.
Skills/abilities
 Good cash handling skills.
 Effective communication skills with guests and staff.
 Ability to work quickly while remaining welcoming and friendly to customers.
 Good team player.
