Medina Elementary School’s World Culture Night
May 27th, 2015 (5-7pm)
Does your family speak another language? Do you want to share your culture
with other families at Medina Elementary? Do you want to learn about other
countries represented at our school?
Please volunteer to participate at Medina’s International Night!
Ways to participate:
1. Your family can host a table to teach others about your country. You can
partner with another family to represent one country.
Fill your table with items from your country: traditional clothes, flags, art
work, books and/or artifacts such as small statues, hats, or popular
movies.
 Fill a poster board with pictures of your family in your country.
 Bring a simple activity or handout that tells about something you’d
like to share about your country (a game you played growing up, a
symbol of your country, a simple art project such as origami, henna
hand painting, calligraphy).
 Serve a traditional food that has meaning to you. Ideas are Belgian
waffles, Italian pizza, Mexican tacos, and Chinese candy. (all
ingredients must be listed for parental approval)
 Talk about a sport that is popular in your country – bring equipment
needed to play to show the children
 Create or play a video on your laptop or ipad showing your country
 Bring traditional clothing for students to see, touch or even try on
2. Come to explore World Culture and travel around. You will learn about
different cultures, try different food, see art from other countries or perhaps get a
Henna tattoo from India.
3. Sign up to perform a traditional dance or traditional music from your
culture.
