Association of the Mediterranean Regulators for Electricity and Gas (MEDREG) MEDREG Workshop on Interconnection Infrastructures in the Mediterranean 29 April 2015, from 10h00 to 16h30 (local time) Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hotel Tropitel Naama Bay AGENDA Scope of the Workshop This workshop completes MEDREG’s consultation on the document ‘Interconnection Infrastructure in the Mediterranean: A Challenging Environment for Investments”. The purpose of this public consultation was to define a shared approach on the infrastructure priorities for the Mediterranean region and elaborate draft recommendations on how to face the main barriers that hinder investment in energy infrastructure. During this workshop, MEDREG will present the preliminary results of the public consultation and seek further input and viewpoints from stakeholders before finalizing its conclusions. The workshop presents the responses to the consultation during three sessions, each presenting answers to three questions. The first session focuses on national institutional architectures. The second session discusses the gas sector, security of supply and international cooperation. The third session concerns the electricity sector, the use of existing infrastructure and the relation between regulators and TSOs. A conclusive roundtable is devoted to discussing the main energy infrastructure projects that are developed in the region.
