MEDREG Workshop on Interconnection Infrastructures
in the Mediterranean
29 April 2015, from 10h00 to 16h30 (local time)
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
Hotel Tropitel Naama Bay
AGENDA
Scope of the Workshop
This workshop completes MEDREG’s consultation on the document ‘Interconnection Infrastructure
in the Mediterranean: A Challenging Environment for Investments”. The purpose of this public
consultation was to define a shared approach on the infrastructure priorities for the Mediterranean
region and elaborate draft recommendations on how to face the main barriers that hinder
investment in energy infrastructure.
During this workshop, MEDREG will present the preliminary results of the public consultation and
seek further input and viewpoints from stakeholders before finalizing its conclusions. The workshop
presents the responses to the consultation during three sessions, each presenting answers to
three questions. The first session focuses on national institutional architectures. The second
session discusses the gas sector, security of supply and international cooperation. The third
session concerns the electricity sector, the use of existing infrastructure and the relation between
regulators and TSOs. A conclusive roundtable is devoted to discussing the main energy
infrastructure projects that are developed in the region.
The workshop is held under the Chatham House Rule.1
