September 24 - 26, 2015 Guntersville, Alabama Melodies & Musings Our Appalachian Legacy As part of a National Endowment for the Arts and Alabama State Council on the Arts grant to honor and preserve Appalachian music and family stories, RSVP presents: Dulcimer Tracks $125 Beginner/Novice, Intermediate or Advanced ● 15 hours of mountain dulcimer instruction working with four nationally known instructors Choose a track for your level of experience: * Beginner/Novice Mtn. Dulcimer * Intermediate Mtn. Dulcimer * Advanced Mtn. Dulcimer Sessions will focus on playing technique, repertoire building and ensemble playing. ● 4 additional hours of your choice of Appalachian music heritage classes. ● Evening Activities: ● Wednesday free night to enjoy a local restaurant with jamming at the Hampton Inn after dinner ● Thursday Night BBQ and Open Stage ● Friday Night Mtn. Dulcimer Instructor’s Concert. ● Jamming, vendors, Contra Dance, singing and more! ● Lunches available on site, optional Lodging Nationally Known Workshop Presenters Paul Andry, Louisiana native now in Highlands, North Carolina, has been playing and performing for over 20 years. His lyrical touch enables him to interpret a diversity of styles of music: Mardi Gras, ragtime, classical, Celtic, pop and traditional American folk music. Tull Glazener from Indianapolis, Indiana, is a much sought after mountain dulcimer instructor because of his clear melody driven teaching style. Tull has been arranging airs, waltzes, ragtime, traditional, old-time, contemporary, classical, and jazz music for the mountain dulcimer since 1984. Anne Lough from Waynesville, North Carolina for over 34 years has been dedicated to preserving ballads and folk songs of the Appalachians. Her knowledge of our traditional music heritage brings a rare and unique quality to each of her classes and musical performances. Susan Trump, from Newtonville, New York, is always a popular instructor and performer. Magic stems from her ability to link the pastoral, tranquil images of traditional rural America to contemporary life. Her spontaneous sense of humor always adds a fresh touch to her performances.
