Yellow Dot Program
The Yellow Dot Program was created to assist
citizens following automobile crashes when they
might not be able to communicate for themselves.
RSVP in a cooperative effort with the Sheriff’s
Department and local Police Departments will
hold a volunteer training to promote the Yellow
Dot Program in Marshall County. First Responders are trained to look for the Yellow Dot to ensure that you receive the medical attention you
need during the first “golden hour” after a crash or
other emergency involving your vehicle.
How does the Yellow Dot Program Work?
First, a photograph is taken
of the participant.
The
photo is later
secured to the
front side of
the completed
information
sheet. Second,
complete the
form
which
contains
the
participant’s
information: name, address and phone number of
person to contact in case of an emergency; medical history; allergies; medications by dosage
taken; and names of doctors caring for the participant.
Third, place the Yellow Dot decal in the lower
left corner on the outside of the rear windshield of
the participant’s automobile.
Final step, place the completed information
sheet, with picture attached, into the Yellow Dot
folder and place into the glove box of your auto.
RSVP Yellow Dot Team
RSVP is recruiting volunteers to form a team
to go out into the community to explain the pro-
Summer 2015
gram, photograph participants, print photos and help
participants with the process. The training will be
June 15 from 10am to Noon at RSVP. Lora Weaver,
Northeast Alabama Traffic Safety Office will teach
volunteers how to help citizens take advantage of this
FREE program. Please call Wendy to volunteer for the
Yellow Dot Team. RSVP needs enough volunteers to
form teams for all areas of Marshall County.
Signup locations and times will be posted after the
team training.
Senior Housing Fair
We all think about what we will do when we choose
no longer to live in our home. Come to the Fair, July
20, 1-3pm, to find out what is available in our surrounding area: from premier housing in Huntsville
near doctors to local apartments, assisted living/
nursing home care to senior housing provided by the
housing authority. Cost $5.
The program will start with a representative of each
residence giving a brief overview of their facility, costs
and amenities. After the program each residence will
have a table manned by their staff to be available to
answer questions, provide a fact sheet, amenities available and pricing.
Some of the committed residences are:
Guntersville Housing Authority, Merrill Gardens, Redstone Village, Terrace Lake, Manor House, Mill Run,
Branchwater Village and Brookdale Place at Jones
Farm.
Because of our limited room size, you must register
for this program in advance, not the day of.

RSVP Lecture Forum Series
American Chestnut Foundation
The goal of the American Chestnut Foundation is
to restore the American chestnut tree to its former
niche in the Appalachian hardwood forest ecosystem
to benefit our environment, our wildlife, and our society. The chestnut blight removed the species as a
dominant forest tree over a hundred years ago. A late
-flowering, reliable, and productive tree, unaffected
by seasonal frosts, it was the single most important
food source for a wide variety of wildlife, the annual
nut harvest was a cash crop to feed livestock and the
straight-grained wood
was easily worked, lightweight and highly rotresistant.
Come and meet our
new state park naturalist
and forester, Kate Gribbin. July 15, 10am.
Cost $5.
