The Gathering Place and
Memory Matters would not
be able to incorporate such

annual Creativity is Ageless

our unique art program. The
funds raised allow us to plan a
variety of excursions, and bring
in talented guest artists to
work with us in the next year.

Creativity is Ageless such a
successful event. Everything
from hauling tables and
chairs, sorting through
boxes of art pieces, to
donating bars, cookies and
fruit plates… I can’t say
it enough our volunteers
are absolutely the BEST!
Big thanks to each local
artist who donated beautiful
artwork for our silent auction.
It is so wonderful to have the
support from our community!

How many Volunteers
does it take to run The
Gathering Place & Memory
Matters?
The answer is… a lot! We
are very fortunate to have
long–term volunteers helping
us who just enjoy their days
here so much that they come
back every week (for 7+ hours
a day), and we could not run
either program without them!
Sally Krubsack and Donna
Hamann have now been
helping us for 8 years, joined
by many others following right
behind with 6 and 7 years.
Enrollment is up and each day
is filling quickly with more
program participants to serve.
There is now a waiting list on
Thursdays, and Mondays and
Tuesdays are filling as well.
Ideally I would love to have
another 20 volunteers, and
with our quarterly training
coming up on Friday, June
19th, now is the perfect time
to check us out. I have many
volunteers who come half
days, some who come 2 times
per month, as well as a few

support. It means so much to
us to be able to showcase, for
you, the gifts and talents of
each program participant. We
hope you had an absolutely
terrific time at Creativity is
Ageless 2015
and we hope
to see you at
many more!

TGP Person of the Month~
May 2015 [Gloria]
Gloria’s life has been one
of smiles. According to her
daughter Robin, she has
never seen her mom without
a smile…and neither have
we! She grew up in Oostburg,
worked at Terry Andre in
the concession stand (back
when it was a trailer at the
park) before she met and
married Bob. She did office
work, and eventually did the
office work for Bob when he
sold insurance. Gloria loves
to fish and they spent a lot
of time at their cottage in
Wabeno, WI. Other hobbies
included painting ceramics,
knitting, collecting hurricane
lamps, gardening, and all
things flowers! She has two
daughters (Robin and Pam)
and many grandchildren, and
has enjoyed traveling with
them. Most recently Gloria,
Bob, and their daughters
went to Disney World. Gloria
is always ready to try anything
with a smile.
Volunteer of the Month~
May 2015 [Bobbie N.]
In May, Bobbie Norlander
chose her birthday to be our
person of the month. We
found out that she grew up
in Highland, WI and is the
youngest of 8 in her family.
Her husband Adam went to
the same schools as she did
and was her best friend’s
cousin. She got married in
1997 and moved to Sheboygan
for her husband’s job at
Acuity, and they now live
in Sheboygan Falls. Bobbie
has a degree in Human
Development and Psychology

from UW-Green Bay. She has
been a stay at home mom and
also a substitute teacher. She
and Adam have three boys
ages 15, 13 and 10. They have
learned the importance of
volunteering from their mom,
and we have enjoyed having
Ethan volunteer at TGP during
the summers. Bobbie helps us
out wherever and whenever
she is needed and we really
appreciate that!

great volunteers. As of right
now we could use extra help
on Thursdays in Memory
Matters, Monday and
Tuesdays in The Gathering

Memory Minute

Last month our focus was on
the value of music for our minds
and memories. We explored
how music stirs our emotions,
enlivens us, and makes life
more beautiful. We were
blessed to experience the joy of
music in many different ways
as we learned, listened and
participated. We had fun with
Mary Ellen Schmidley, and all
her props, doing “Healthy Steps”
Therapeutic Dance Movement.
We created art to music, and we
learned from Ruth Raeder with
music bingo. But the highlight
of our month was our visit to
the local public school in Kohler.
What a treat it was to sit in on
the rehearsal performance for
the Kohler Elementary School
talented musicians! Our Memory
Matter’s group extend a special
thank you for the private shows
that Music Specialist, Wendy
Kukla and Band Director, Richard
Tengowski made possible for
us to attend and enjoy. We are
grateful! “Music is far more than a
source of entertainment; it is vital
food which nourishes me daily.”

Spring Concert. We watched as
the 3rd and 5th graders sang,
danced and even flipped to 50’s
and 60’s music. Afterwards a few
