Parking
We have been contacted by Trinity Estates the company that manages the Ling Court development.
They have asked me to remind parents that Ling Court is private land and that non-residents should
not be parking or waiting for children on either the road into the development or the parking bays
within. Please help us to maintain good relationships with our neighbours by parking more
considerately.
Pupil Safety before School
Could parents of year 3 and 4 children please ensure their children are supervised in the playground
until class teachers line classes up at 8.50am. This is to ensure that all children are safe and are
handed over to staff at the start of each day.
Wetland Area
Work to develop our wetland area next to the year 3 classrooms in the Link building will begin next
Wednesday. This area will include seating and pathways, a newly lined pond with wetland plants, a
hedge, a new perimeter fence and a safe ‘pond dipping’ area. The work should be completed before
half term with classes able to use the new area for the remainder of the school year. We would like
to thank FoMPS for their terrific support in helping us to bring this exciting learning resource to the
children.
International Schools’ Award
In recognition of the school’s international work, we have been awarded the foundation level of the
International Schools Award. This award celebrates the school’s commitment to encouraging global
citizenship. The British Council, who run the award, describe being a global citizen as involving the
development of skills and outlooks which encourage positive engagement with others and the
environment.
Although our curriculum covers many global citizenship themes throughout the school, the main
project for which we received the award was Year 5’s eTwinning work. The Year 5 children are taking
part in an eTwinning project about energy consumption and sustainability in partnership with a number
of schools in our local cluster and in various different countries across Europe. Many thanks to Mrs
Wagstaff and Miss Hodkinson for their hard work and enthusiasm in enabling our school to gain this
award.
Foundation Graduation Assembly
Monday 13 July will be our Foundation Graduation Assembly (a celebration of their first year in school).
The assembly will be in the afternoon (time to be confirmed).
FoMPS Yomp
The 9th annual Yomp took place on Saturday and was a huge success with around 90 “dads” enjoying
the scenery, and hostelries, of the Yorkshire Dales. A sweep of “guess the mileage” added a little
extra fun and indeed fundraising to the day and 21.42 miles later Tim Hibbert came out the winner.
Many thanks to all for your continued support, around £2,000 was raised on the day. Roll on 2016!
Dave Holder
Many thanks to Dave Holder and his team for organising such an enjoyable and successful Yomp.
Year 6 Pupils Leavers Party
Year 6 Leavers Party will be held on Thursday 9 July 2015 from 7.00pm – 9.00pm. Further information
will follow shortly. If any parent would like to help volunteer please contact Clare Lowans or leave a
message at the school office.
Year 6 Pool Party – Aireborough Swimming Baths
To everyone who’s going to the Pool Party on Sunday 26 July at 4.00pm. The cost will be £5.25. Please
send your money into school in an envelope with your name and mobile telephone number on by Friday
8 May. There are still places available so any late comers are more than welcome. Just send your
payment in to confirm your place. Any extra money which comes in I'll buy crisps/sweets to give out
after the party.
Thanks very much, Nicki Aldred
