Hello everyone,
Cricket
Congratulations to our Elaine cricket club boys who won their grand final on
the weekend. They were able to dismiss their opponents very quickly on the
last morning to win the game. The team fielded extremely well, getting a
couple of wickets via a run out and a catch. Well done to Kenny, Kade, Trent
and Seth who played essential team roles in the win.
Staffing Update
I am writing to announce that Jannah Swaffield (one of our integration
aides) has accepted a job at Belmont Primary School. We are very excited
for Jannah, and thank her for the work she has done at Meredith. We have
replaced Jannah internally in the short term while we advertise for a
replacement.
Woorabinda Camp
I had the privilege of drawing two names out of the hat in front of Ms
Pritchard’s class for Woorabinda camp on Thursday. Normally, I would do
this at our school assembly, but I’m taking personal leave today so I did it in
the classroom. This is a government run camp for grade 4/5 students.
Unfortunately, only two students were allowed to go from our school (one
girl, one boy). Congratulations to Eliza and Alex who were both the
successful recipient of a camp invitation.
Choir Expression of interest
Spots are filling up fast for our choir which will begin on Wednesday, April
15th from 3.15 - 4.15pm. Please know that the cut-off date for registration is
Tuesday 14th of April. Please let Belinda in the office know if you’d like your
child to join in the choir.
Old Laptops
We have been working on having the old laptops ready to be taken home by
today, and we hope that will be the case. Mile (our technician) has been sick
and unable to attend school the last two weeks, but he is
bringing in extra workers today in a bid to have them
finished for the holidays.
Have a great holiday break, I hope every family is able to
relax and enjoy their time together over the Easter
period. Family is a precious gift, school holidays are a
great time to create and relive all sorts of fantastic
memories.

Thank you
Not only is this my 129th newsletter, it is
also my last one. Because of this I would like
to take the opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the staff,
students and families here at MPS. I feel extremely privileged to have been a part of this
wonderful school community for the last three
and a bit years.
I have many mixed emotions at this time and
although I am looking forward to spending more
time with our grandchildren, Mr Cations and
some new adventures, (did I mention the sleep
ins) I will cherish the memories and friendships and will keep in touch and up to date
with all the latest Meredith news. How good is
that app!
I would also like to pay special thanks to all
school councillors, especially Terry Hart,
Stefania Parkinson and Martin Peters, and the
PFA parents who have at many times given up
precious time to help me out when needed.
My biggest thank you however, is to all the
students who have made working at Meredith
Primary School such a pleasure. Special mention to all our past and present school captains, this year Angus and Tarryn, who consistently uphold and encourage other students
to maintain the MPS values that will no doubt
lead them on to great achievements in the future. Keep up the great work. I will miss you
all.
Kind regards
Carol Cations
