Welcome to our 48th annual Iris Show!
This show is
being held and judged under the rules and regulations of the American
Iris Society. Entries and admission are open to the public without
charge.
Our thanks go out to exhibitors, TCIS members and show judges for making our show possible! We’d also like to thank each of you for attending
today, and viewing the iris on display. We hope you will enjoy the show,
and come again in 2016.

While visiting the AIS website, be sure to look at the various sections of
AIS, including Median Iris Society, Society for Japanese Irises, Society
for Louisiana Irises, Society for Siberian Irises, Spuria Iris Society, and
others.

4. Horticultural Sweepstakes* (most blue ribbons): AIS Silver
Medal , AIS Certificate. In case of a tie, second and third place ribbons will be counted.
5. Horticultural Sweepstakes Runner-up* (second most blue
ribbons): AIS Bronze Medal, AIS Certificate. In case of a tie, second and third place ribbons will be counted.
6. Best Seedling (if merited by the AIS judges): AIS Purple rosette
and Exhibition Certificate. Additionally, any other seedling receiving 5 or more votes from accredited AIS judges attending the show
will also receive an Exhibition Certificate.
7. Best of Section: Given for each Division I section provided
there are at least 3 exhibitors and at least five cultivars for that
section.
8. Educational Exhibit: An AIS rosette and AIS certificate will be
awarded to any Educational Exhibit selected by the judges.
9.
Artistic Division: An AIS purple rosette, and AIS certificate will
be awarded for the Best Design in the Show. TCIS will award cash
prizes of $20 and $10 to the 1st & 2nd Artistic Youth Category
winners, respectively.
Some tips on getting your flowers and
arrangements to the show:

Use individual containers like pop bottles for each specimen flower. Wedge
bottles tightly into a box with room for each flower at the top. Old pop
crates are wonderful, use every other square or use a box with rolled up
newspaper between containers.

Some people use a bucket with each flower in rolled up paper, or use tape to
make a grid to keep flowers apart on the bucket top.

Place your flowers in the vehicle first or get in first and have someone hand
you the flowers. More stalks have been lost to car doors than any rainstorm
or environmental problem!

Place arrangements gently in boxes for transport.

If you make an arrangement the previous day, be sure to keep it well watered.

Condition is a large part of the score. Bring extra foliage or extra flowers to
fill in in place of any damaged foliage or any shifting of the arrangement in
transport.

DIVISION IV: Artistic (Adult)

1. This accredited show is being held and judged under the rules and
regulations of The American Iris Society as set forth in the Handbook for Judges and Show Officials, 7th Edition, 2007 and subsequent rules and regulations approved by The American Iris Society
Board of Directors. These rules and regulations may not be violated.
2. Accredited judges of The American Iris Society will judge all entries in the Horticulture Division(s). Judges’ decisions will be final. Any award may be withheld at their discretion.
3. Entries will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on
Friday, May 29, 2015. Judging will begin at 7:05 p.m.

AWARDS
4. Only specifically authorized personnel will be allowed in the show
area during judging.
5. Show judges and members of their immediate family are not permitted to exhibit in the show.
6. Show management will not be responsible for loss or damage to
exhibitor’s property but will exercise every precaution to prevent
it.
7. Exhibits will remain in place until 2:00 p.m. on May 30,
2015. All exhibits must be removed by 2:30 p.m. or they
may be discarded.
American Iris Society Awards/TCIS Awards
1. Ribbons: Each specimen can be awarded only one ribbon. One
First (Blue), one Second (Red), and one Third (White) place ribbon may be given to each cultivar in any given Section except in
the Seedling Division. As many Honorable Mention (Pink) ribbons may be awarded as the panel of Judges deems worthy. Judges may consider an entry unworthy of any ribbon.
2. Best Specimen of Show (seedlings excepted): Large purple rosette, AIS Certificate.
3. Runners-up (up to 6) to Best Specimen of Show: Small purple
rosette.

SPECIAL RULES — HORTICULTURE DIVISIONS
1. This is a VARIETY/CULTIVAR show, staged according to type and
in alphabetical order within the various sections and groups. Each
variety constitutes a separate group and must be correctly named
to be eligible for AIS awards. Unnamed seedlings may be exhibited and entered under number.
2. Division, Section, and Group numbers and name of variety
(number or name in Seedling Division) must appear on the entry
card. The entry card is to be prepared by the exhibitor.
3. The horticulture and seedling divisions are open to any grower.

DIVISION II: SEEDLINGS
4. Entries must have been grown and entered in person by the exhibitor
whose name appears on the entry tag. Members of a family may exhibit from
the same garden, providing each entrant works in that garden.
5. An
exhibitor may enter a seedling originated by another person, but
the hybridizer’s name and the seedling name or number must appear on the entry card.
6. Exhibitors may enter only one stalk of a variety in single specimen and seedling sections, but may enter any number of varieties.
7. Unidentified
iris may be entered and judged in one class on condition/grooming only and are not eligible for any AIS awards.
8. Containers will be furnished for
all single specimens.

Note: There are no sections for bulbous irises, collections or English boxes.
Any unintroduced iris of any type. Seedlings must be entered under
seedling number or registered name and must be made in the name of
the owner or originator of the clone.
DIVISION III: EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS
Illustrate any aspect of iris culture or knowledge. Reservations for an
Educational Exhibit are not required for this show.
SPECIAL RULES — ARTISTIC DIVISIONS
1. Theme: Iris Games
2. An exhibitor may enter only one exhibit per class, but may enter
as many classes as desired. Exhibitors under 19 may enter adult
classes in addition to youth classes.
3. Iris must be the predominant flower, but other flowers, foliage
and plant materials (both dried and fresh) may be used, except
for conservation protected plants. Iris and other materials need
not be grown by the exhibitor.
4. No artificial flowers or foliage will be permitted.
5. The use of an American Flag or any international flag is prohibited.
6. Entries are to be staged in niches that measure 24” tall and 18”
deep. The arrangement is not required to fill the space.
7. Bases, mats, freestanding backgrounds and accessories may be
used. Reasonable care will be taken by the Society but no responsibility for loss or breakage will be assumed. Properties should be
marked by exhibitor for identification.
8.
A 3 x 5 card shall be used to explain interpretation.
9.
Those judging may not enter into competition.
10. All artistic arrangements must be the work of the exhibitor.
