Since 2010, Greg Crawford, dean of the College of Science, has
dedicated hissummers to cycling across thecountry to raising
awareness and funds for research to find treatments oracure for
Niemann-Pick Type C(NPC) disease---A rare, genetic cholesterolstorage disorder that is always fatal and took the lives of three
grand c h ild re n of legenda ry Notre Dame footb all coach Ara Parseg h ia n.
Greg has biked a total of 11,22 4 miles, held events with over 60 Notre
Dame alumni clubs, visited over 120 cities, organized several campus
fund raisers with Notre Dame athletic s teams , and educa ted million s
of people about NPC through media interviews, blogs, and other
promotional materials.
Expanding his fundraisers efforts, Greg will embark upon his final
cross-coun try bike ride to bring awareness and raise $1 million for NPC
and all rare disease research at Notre Dame’s Boler-P arsegh ia n Center
for Rare and Neglected Diseases. In May 2015, hisjourney willtake
him from Long Island , N.Y. to Pebble Beach, CA, from May 26-Ju ne 26.
Hewill be passing through our area on May 27th and would love to
spend the evening with our club. Cindy Parseghian will also be in
attendance totell thestory of her family’s fight to find acure for NPC
disease.
