Summary
As the pyramid of US youth soccer is upside down compare to Europe and South America – In the US, those
that can pay will play soccer; those that cannot afford the ever increasing fees will drop out and/or not
participate.
In the US youth system it has a huge parent influence (good and bad), therefore development, progression,
teamwork and loyalty will always be inconsistent.
In the UK for example (as witnessed by those that attended the UK Pro Soccer Experience), payments to their
feeder clubs (travel Clubs) were very minimal (ref fees and uniforms) (Youth Pro Teams do not pay), the
players ambitions / dreams are to become a professional soccer player; so the mentality of the young players
is an ALL or NON mind set. Parents were restricted on the practice grounds as well as games and had minimal
interaction with team.
The goal is development; train the players to get them to a semi-pro / pro level. This achievement of this
transition to a higher level is the main goal for these feeder clubs.
I have adapted and fully understand the structure of US Youth Soccer. As player development is Key, Wanting
to be on a winning team in most cases halts the development of the player and breaks up many teams and
clubs year after year.

My goal is to integrate both systems to bring about a long term development program and results.
For Example: With our current progression with the boys academy (current U8, U9, U10) if they stay
committed and focused, the teams will be playing State Cup at U13; they will be a force in the out of state
league (not the SFUYSA local leagues); scholarship opportunities at Division 1 / 2 and develop through our
system, attaining a soccer scholarship will be a reality rather than a hope.
The Ultimate Goal for MLUSC - will be to get as many soccer scholarships for our players as possible; this will
be the results of very good competitive teams and individuals, which will come from great coach, curriculum
and club.
