This fabulous event boasts one and a half days of education, networking and fun. With an amazing array of speakers and estimated 9 continuing education credits hours, it promises not to disappoint. We are honored to welcome Gerald Shiener, MD and Michigan State Public Administrator, Michael E. Moody as our Keynote speakers. Along with education, the conference provides opportunity for our hard working members to let their hair down. Located at the wonderful Shoreline Inn and Conference Center in Muskegon, there are plenty of opportunities to relax and recharge. This gorgeous facility sits on the shore of the Muskegon Lake and is within walking distance of a shopping, breweries and so much more. Registration Information Conference Registration: Complete the conference registration form and return as indicated. Each attendee must submit a complete form. Fees include tuition, educational materials, snacks, and meals. We do accept walk-in registrations. Online Registration: MGA is glad to accept event registration and credit card payments online. There is a $30.00 administration fee for each refund; substitutions may be made at any time. Continuing Education: MGA will provide a signed certificate of attendance for approximately 9 clock hours for each participant. Certificates will be signed by MGA staff after each session and will be collected prior to the Judges Corner session on Friday, May 15th to be recorded. Please note that if you must leave the conference prior to that session, you must have your certificate recorded by the Administrator. Certificates that are not recorded with MGA cannot be validated. Attention toward understanding that prolonging life may not always lead to quality of life. The participants will review strategies to enhance understanding toward discovering goals for health, well-being and end of life for the individual for whom they advocate. Benefits and burdens of common medical interventions: artificial nutrition and hydration, tube feedings, mechanical ventilation, hospice will be discussed. Beverage Break Culture of Gentleness: More Than Being Kind! Kim Juntti, Director, The Michigan Center for Positive Living Supports Supporting individuals with complex needs and those who support them requires sensitivity to trauma and a unified culture and strategies to bring about sustainable change. This presentation will discuss 6 Key Elements of a “Culture of Gentleness” and examine missing elements often identified in our quest to help. The presentation will also identify some interactions tools and elements of effective planning. Participants will walk away with an understanding of how they can improve relationships and outcomes while staying true to their mission.
