Reflection
Brush Up on Spring Fashion Annual Luncheon Event a huge success!!
Miles of Smiles held the annual Brush up On Fashion luncheon event at Argosy Casino on April 10, 2015. We had more
than 290 guests at the event this year! Luncheon event guests enjoyed watching our Northland celebrities strut the runway.
Thanks to the following people for modeling: The Moreno Family, Kathy Ellermeier, Jason Grill, Ryan and Angela Silvey,
Jacque Banks, Phil Witt, Shelly Gaddis, Colleen Pleiss, Katie Ferrell, Kim Downs, Cynthia Newsome, Danni Boatwright,
Nick Bolton, Kathy Rose, Sheila Tracy, Tiffany Killoren, and Carolyn Long. Susan Hiland, Miles of Smiles board member
and Fox 4 news anchor, was master of ceremonies. The models were dressed in the latest spring fashion, thanks to
Dillard’s at Zona Rosa. The luncheon event raised a total of $38,647 which is 110% more than last year! The money
raised will help pay for comprehensive dental care for needy children in Clay and Platte county. Without our services,
2,500 Northland children would not have the opportunity to receive quality dental care in a convenient and nurturing setting.

Happenings
Miles of Smiles adds new staff this summer!
Save the Date!
In mid-June Karma Vowell will start as the first Development
Director at Miles of Smiles. Karma has 15 years of fundraising
experience and we look forward to working with her to expand
our donor base so that we may continue to expand our services.
Dr. Jessica Ehlinger will join our full time dental team in mid-July.
For the past six months she has been working one day a month for
us at our Synergy clinic. She graduated from UMKC Dental School
in 2013 and has been practicing dentistry in Lenexa, KS full time.
She is eager to work exclusively with children and to fulfill the
mission of Miles of Smiles. In June, Dr. Babcock will reduce his
time with Miles of Smiles and he will primarily see patients in our
office two days a week. He will focus on finishing treatment that
did not get completed in the school setting. With his dedicated
time in the office every week, we hope to increase the number of
completed treatment plans before the dental team visits the
schools the following year. Dr. Jason Sparks graduates from
UMKC Dental School in May and he will begin working full time in
late June. His career goals are to work in public health and give
back to the community. We welcome our talented and dedicated
dentists to Miles of Smiles Inc!!
Platte County Back to School Fair
July 30th, 2015
9:00 am until 6:00 pm
The Platte County Back to School Fair is held
each year for qualifying low-income families
with school-aged children living in the home.
Register for the event through the Platte
County Health Department. Miles of Smiles
will be providing free oral health screenings
and a fluoride application.
