What is the Manufacturing Leaders Academy?
The Academy was built from MMA member input. Members expressed a
need to connect with other manufacturing leaders and participate in key
events offered by MMA. This all-inclusive program spans a 12-month
period and includes access to 10 manufacturing-specific events. It
is exclusive to a class of 40 industry members ready to lead
Michigan’s manufacturing industry.
The Academy includes our top-attended events, like the Manufacturing Talent
Summit and MMA’s Annual Event (CEO & Executive Forum), along with our
member-driven events like the Manufacturing Leaders Conference, Compliance
Essentials for Manufacturers and three Academy-exclusive events focusing
on high-value issues to help our members grow leaders from within.
Why should I participate in the Academy?
Effective leaders innovate, seek opportunities and deliver a clear vision.
MMA’s Manufacturing Leaders Academy will boost your effectiveness, educate
you on strategies for success and enhance your leadership skills and help
your business to stay ahead of your competitors while professionally growing
your own skills to be the best in your industry. In addition to receiving
training on manufacturing’s most impactful issues, you will join an elite
group of 40 manufacturing leaders who will have exclusive networking
time at every MMA event to connect, share ideas and problem solve.
I’m excited! What topics will be covered in the Academy?
By registering for this ALL-INCLUSIVE program, you’ll be registered for
10 manufacturing-specific events that will provide updates on
issues such as:
• Workforce development strategies to help meet your talent needs
• Crisis communication and an effective response
• What it means to lobby for manufacturing and how that effort
improves your competitiveness
• Financial issues specific to manufacturers
• Environmental and human resource issues
• The value of participating on a board of directors as a way to help
manufacturing in Michigan
• PLUS: Overnight accommodations (upon request with 30 days notice
prior to the event) and meals to allow for social events and networking
with a core group of manufacturers
What is the Academy attendance policy?
Completion of the Academy requires participation in each of the 10 Academy
events in one year. We understand that life happens, however, and you
will have the opportunity to retake up to three events the following year.
What’s the benefit of completing the Academy?
Upon completion of the Academy you will have obtained knowledge
in a number of areas essential to running a competitive manufacturing
operation. You will be honored for your time and commitment during a
ceremony in front of your peers at MMA’s annual event. From this point
on, you will be an “Academy Graduate” and have access to future
programs exclusive to Manufacturing Leaders Academy Alumni.
How much does the Academy cost?
Enrollment in the Academy, including 10 educational programs, networking
events, overnight accommodations and meals (upon request with 30 days
notice prior to the event), is $2,500 for MMA members. Non-members
may enroll at $3,900 to receive the same all-inclusive deal.
Quarterly billing of $750 is available upon request.
Who should participate in the Academy?

their responsibilities
How many people from my company can participate?
Each registration for the Academy is for one person and cannot be split
across multiple attendees. Multiple employees from one company can
register for their own Academy enrollment. The intent of the Academy is
to give an individual the breadth of understanding of what it means to be
a Michigan manufacturer! Through participation in the Academy, you will
be asked to step out of your comfort zone and push beyond your own
area of expertise to gain a well-rounded knowledge base.

Why are overnight accommodations and meals included?
It’s all about connections! There is value in the information you learn through
the Academy, but even greater value in connecting with like-minded
thought leaders to discuss concepts, strategies and develop a professional
network that will strengthen your company and Michigan’s greatest industry.
Overnight accommodations lead to greater networking opportunities.
(Please note, overnight accommodations are upon request with at least
30 days notice prior to the event.)
We realize that you may not use overnight accommodations for every
event…However, we have strategically selected several “destination
locations” across Michigan to give you an opportunity to work and play!
