Audition Schedule
FOR NEW & RETURNING POTENTIAL STUDENT MEMBERS:
Preliminary auditions will be held after-school, beginning at 2:15, on May 13-May 15. You are only
required to sign up for one 10-minute increment on one of those dates. A sign-up list will be posted on
the choir room door.
Audition Process
For Treble Choir & Chamber Singers consideration, please be prepared to sing a 30-second a cappella
song segment of your choice; Note, it is highly recommended to not be a part of the pop genre (musical
theatre is fine).
The audition will consist of the following: song, singing a series of ear training exercises, sightsinging, and a short interview.

• Disrespect to MVHS, its teachers, staff, and students
• Low GPA and lack of ambition to secure academic responsibilities

To Parents
I am so pleased that your child is considering auditioning for the Mission Viejo Chamber Singers and/or
Treble choir. These ensembles have a long tradition of excellence and I am confident that they will
continue to be first-rate performing ensembles. The selection of the choirs is decided solely by me, the
director. In addition to musicianship skills and vocal quality, blend and balance is an integral part of the
process. If your child is not selected into an advanced ensemble, I would like to encourage them to join
Concert Choir or the Diablo Chorus to further their musical and vocal growth. Any accommodations
needed should be addressed by you, the parent, or by the student before the audition. Please feel free to

6. The MVHS Choral Music Program will be touring and although it is not required and does not affect
grading, it is highly recommended that everyone participates. Currently, we have been invited to
perform with other top High School programs in the Worldstrides Heritage Choir Competition in
Seattle, Washington April 1-3, 2016. The cost for this trip is $800 per student & chaperon. There will be
opportunities to raise funds throughout the school year and it is entirely possible to cover these costs
with a strong effort by you, the student, to fundraise. Will you be able to participate on this trip?
