Dear Prospective Sponsor or Vendor, The Canadian Polish Congress (CPC) Mississauga District is proud to announce Mississauga’s first annual Polish Day event! We invite you to support the Polish Canadian community by becoming a sponsor or a vendor at the biggest annual event celebrating the heritage and culture of one of the largest ethnic groups in Peel Region. Peel’s steady growth and penchant for cultural events creates an untapped opportunity for a new festival. The Canadian Polish Congress (CPC) promotes awareness of the Polish culture, heritage, language, and history to the Canadian public at large and represents the community regarding matters of policy of municipal and provincial governments that may impact on the rights and/or quality of life of diverse groups like ours that are an integral part of Canadian society. The Canadian Polish Congress is a non-profit federal corporation. The Polish Day event is being planned by a project team of experienced volunteers with specific knowledge and skills. The project has no paid positions. PURPOSE OF THE POLISH DAY FESTIVAL As one of Peel Region’s largest cultural groups, the Polish Canadian population is eager to share its history, traditions and culture with our neighbours and friends. We plan to provide an opportunity for: POLISH CANADIAN POPULATION IN PEEL REGION • Polish Canadians to collectively express their pride and joy in their shared heritage • Other Canadians to experience Polish culture and traditions • An inclusive and innovative experience for everyone through interactive activities and exhibits • Participants from all age groups and backgrounds to have fun! • Polish is the second most common mother tongue spoken by Mississauga residents, right after Urdu (excluding French and English) • Polish is third on the list of top ten ethnic origins in Mississauga, right after East Indian and Chinese • 55,730 Peel Region residents reported being of Polish ethnic origin 4.1% Polish Population In Mississauga FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS Activities for the whole family! • Stage performances including live music, folk dance groups and other entertainers • Games and activities for children • Traditional Polish cuisine, as well as a beer tent and BBQ • Engaging exhibits and vendors throughout the day • Art Exhibit to showcase visual arts, acoustic music and live poetry • “Biesada”: sing-along with live music and entertainers • Evening dance We are excited to celebrate Polish culture in a big way, and would love for you to be involved. Exhibit space size: 10 ft. X 10 ft. Price: $200 prior to June 1 or $250 after June 1 Vendors will be located outdoors, around the perimeter of the main event square. Each vendor will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining all permits or licenses required for the operation of their Exhibit Space. Electrical or water hook-up will be unavailable and vendors will need to bring their own tables and chairs. Exhibitors will ensure that their exhibits are staffed at all times and be responsible for the security and safety of their displays and equipment. Exhibitor move-in will commence on September 5th at 6:00 am and be completed by 9:30 am. Move-out will occur between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Vendors/exhibitors participating this year, will be given priority for space at the 2016 Mississauga Polish Day. Note that the Polish Day organizing committee reserves the right to decline your application.
