congestion. The whole width of the road will
be used for the start again this year. Your time

to anyone else. Amongst other potential
problems, doing so may cause problems of

in the case of an accident or injury. Any
attempt to do so will result in immediate
disqualification of the individual(s) concerned
and removal from the event.

TIMING CHIP INSTRUCTIONS
Fitting a looped shoe tag UHF loop tag for running comes pre-attached to a Tyvek strip.
DO NOT remove as this is an integral part of the tag and will destroy the chip!
Our standard UHF loop tag for running comes pre-‐attached to a Tyvek strip. DO NOT remove this, it’s an integral part The
tag can be worn on either shoe. Follow the instructions below.
of the tag and you’ll destroy the chip if you try! The tag can be worn on either shoe, just follow the instructions. This is the loop tag that you’ll find in your race pack. Before fitting it please check that the number on the tag is the same as the race number and both match what you’ve been told is your number. Slip the tag underneath the bottom (nearest to your toes) laces on your shoe. At this point the tag is face down with the red block at the toe end and the brown 3M safety tab is at the top. Fold the top of the tag towards the toe so you can detach the brown 3M safety tab. Press the adhesive patch that was covered by the 3M safety tab against the back of the tag at the toe end. The glued area should stick immediately forming the completed loop. At this point the red patch with the frowning face is showing at the toe end. Now rotate the loop until the red patch is facing the shoe and you can see your number. You are now ready to race! The three tags shown below are examples of what NOT to do! ✕ The tag is upside down ✕ The tag is folded flat under the laces ✓
✕ The tag is rolled into a tight coil Travel Information

Spectators
We welcome spectators on race day and we want everyone to have a great event
experience. To make the event fun and safe for everyone, we would like to offer the
following advice:
•
•
•
•
•
•
The second half of the marathon is on redways, so please do not block these
Please don’t lean over barriers or impede the runners in any way
If you need to cross the course then please make sure you do so safely
Please don’t cycle alongside the runners as this can cause accidents
Remember runners may be tired and slower to react
Don’t forget to cheer and shout as loud as you can!
The stadium is the perfect place for you to see your runner run a victory lap of the pitch and
cross the line. Seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis – so grab a seat, bring
your bells and whistles and cheer them on to the finish!
Please note that dogs are not permitted in the stadium.
Runners: things to remember...
Double check and check
again that you have
everything you need for the
day. Create yourself a check
list of what to take.

Get SET For Life!
The MK Dons Sport and Education Trust gives as many community members access and
opportunities to participate in our often life changing programmes, we have created an
organisational structure to deliver projects in core areas.
The seven departments we operate through are Education, Social Inclusion, Health and
Wellbeing, Girls and Womens, Football Development and Community Delivery and Get SET
for legacy. This structure allows us to engage a diverse range of people as we continue to be
a focal point of community activity. We regularly engage with over 50,000 people each year.
The natural synergy between our departments allows us to share expertise and, in many
projects, work across departments. So, whether playing football, growing vegetables or
designing a poster, everyone involved will take away skills and knowledge that will help them
get SET for life.
If you would like to support or get involved with the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust

Course Time Limit
The course time limit is 3:15 hours for the Half Marathon and 6.5 hours for the MK
Marathon. The course will close at 15 minute mile pace and drinks stations, marshals,
medical support etc will be withdrawn. Runners who are behind a 15 minute mile pace
will be offered transport to the finish line area. Should you decline the transportation
your status reverts back to that of a pedestrian and you should be aware that you
continue without the race infrastructure in place. Before starting the race please give
careful consideration to your ability to complete the course in the allotted time.
The Finish Area
All races finish next to the players
tunnel inside stadiummk. Encourage
your friends and family to give you a
shout as you enter the stadium. A video
camera will display your finish on four big
screens. When you cross the line please
keep moving around the pitch where
you will be presented with water and
your medal. This is important, not only
for your muscles to avoid them seizing
up, but also to prevent congestion in the
finish area. If you need assistance our
medical team will be on hand to support
you.
As you exit the stadium via the service
tunnel you will access the Arena where
you can collect your goody bag and
baggage. You will not get these if you
don’t have a running number.
Only those who finish the MK Marathon
or Half Marathon will be entitled to a
Finisher’s Medal and goody bag. Please
do not ask for more than one as marshals
have been instructed to only issue one
per person. Taking more than one may
deny another finisher from receiving one
of the items.

Each team will carry a baton which will
include the team timing chip.
Each relay team will have one allocated
parking space at the Marathon Relay
zone (access via Grafton Street near
the Double Tree Hilton). Please display
the parking permit in your windscreen.
Marshals will direct you to your parking
area. Allow plenty of time as the roads
around the stadium will be congested
from early in the morning.
Runners in the first leg should leave their
baggage with their team mates or in the
pre-function bar. They should make their
way to the start line before 9:30am.
Timing mats will be at mile 6.2, 13.1
and 20. Make sure you cross the timing
mat and proceed until you see the relay
changeover point. Marathon Relay
locations are shown on the separate
information sheet in your pack. Relay
runners should allow plenty of time to
arrive at ther changeover point.
Approaching the change-over:
Approximately 100m in advance there
will be a sign warning you that you
are approaching the Marathon Relay
changeover point. Please look out for
these signs and move over to the left
hand side as soon as you can. Safely
exit the main course and hand over
your baton to the next runner inside
the changeover area. Marshals will be
present to direct you but cannot run
after runners who miss the changeover
point!
Exiting the changeover: As soon as you
receive the baton from your team mate
join the main course and begin your run.
Take care not to obstruct other runners
as you move out onto the course. All
runners should collect their medals from
the pre-function bar area of the hotel
overlooking the finish area.
Finish: Teams are encouraged to return
to the stadium to cheer in the last
runner. You may re-use your reserved
parking permit to gain access.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning
team in the pre-function bar area at 2pm.
Enjoy the race!

Shortly after the event you will receive an email from us with a link to our 2015

and your feedback is extremely important to us.
Charity Partners
The MK Marathon isn’t only about fast times. There is also the all important aspect
of putting something back into the community. Each year we work with Charity
Partners in order to help them raise valuable funds.
While the headlines go to the first man and woman across the line, way back in
the field are the men and women who have sacrificed so much in dedicating their
time and effort to helping their chosen charity.
More than £1.7 million has been raised since the first MK Marathon and we will
conduct a survey to see how much has been raised by the 2015 event.
No matter how small the sum may seem, every single penny counts for the less
privileged.
