Program Overview
Completion of the program entitles the graduate to apply
for Media Coordinator licensure (076) from the State of
North Carolina as well as Public Librarian Certification
from the North Carolina Public Librarian Certification
Commission.
• Hybrid delivery—includes face-to-face class meetings
on the campus of UNCC as well as synchronous online
meetings and asynchronous online coursework
• Typically 3-7 credit hours per term, including summers
• Designed for students to complete the degree in two
years

Program Structure
• Courses are carefully planned and will be offered
only one time for each cohort
• Students must be prepared to take courses as they
are made available.
• The cohort beginning Fall 2015 is scheduled to
complete in Summer 2017.

Admission Requirements
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
or university
• Complete application to the Cratis Williams
Graduate School
Admission Criteria
• 3.0 GPA in the last earned degree and official scores
from the GRE or MAT,
OR
• 2.5 GPA in the last earned degree and official scores at
the 25th percentile level from the GRE or MAT.
The program may request that a GPA in the most recent
60 hours of graded coursework completed be used in
place of the GPA in the last earned degree.

Costs
Off Campus Tuition & Fees - 2012-13 Academic Year:
• $235.00 per semester hour - in-state student
($705.00 per three-hour class)
• $820.75 per semester hour - out-of-state student
• Tuition and fees are set annually, and annual increases can
be expected.
• Each course will vary in requirements for textbooks, etc.
Payment Plan Option
• The Higher One Tuition Payment Plan is an interestfree alternative to paying your college expenses.

• You may break up your college expenses into either
four or five equal monthly payments for one term or
nine or ten equal monthly payments for both terms (fall
and spring).
• Not available for summer sessions

Scholarships & grants are typically NOT available to off-campus
graduate students through federal financial aid, but loans can be.
Students must meet minimum credit-hour enrollment to be
eligible. Please contact ASU’s financial aid office for further
information about enrollment requirements.
Applying to the Program

GRE - Year-round continuous testing, depending on seat
availability.
Finalizing Your Application
• You must successfully submit your application on last
page of the electronic application.
• Order one official (sealed) transcript from ALL accredited
colleges or universities attended (except ASU)
• Send your application fee ($55) either online or mail to:
Cratis Williams Graduate School, ASU Box 32068, Boone,
NC 28608. Applications cannot be processed until
payment is received.
• Schedule your MAT or GRE soon (if not taken yet).
Official scores must be sent directly from the testing
agency to ASU and can take up to 3 weeks.
Application Deadline
The priority deadline for applications is June 1; once
enrollment capacities have been reached, registration
will be closed.
The final deadline for applications is July 1.
Application must be “successfully submitted”
(completed) online with application fee paid. GRE or
MAT should be taken by this date if not sooner.
Supplemental materials (transcripts, references) should
be received by this date or shortly thereafter.
Admission Decision
• Once you have successfully submitted your
application and accompanying materials and paid the
fee, you should log in to monitor your application
progress and attend to missing information
(transcripts, references, etc.)
• After all application materials are received, your
application will go to the department for a decision.
The Graduate School will inform you in writing of the
decision.
Registration
• Your admittance will go forward when you confirm your
attendance with the Graduate School.
• Registration information, instructions, and assistance
will be provided as needed.
