We invite you to come and explore the hidden gems that Melbourne has to offer, and
importantly, for you to share the hidden gems within your professional lives.
With a revamped conference program, Medicines Management 2015 will explore
the patient and practitioner journeys. By attending MM2015, you will be given the
opportunity to:
u uncover opportunities to advance your practice and achieve your career goals
u be inspired by leaders in our profession
u discover how patients will engage in the management of their health in the future
u learn how to improve patient safety and deliver an enhanced patient experience
u explore sustainability in the context of rising costs and increased demand.
We invite you to submit your abstract for an oral or poster presentation, and showcase
your work, knowledge and experience. This is your chance to contribute to the diversity
and integrity of the scientific program. You will leave Melbourne feeling inspired and
empowered to embark on the challenges ahead, and don’t forget, time spent developing
an original paper or poster for presentation at a conference may be considered a Group 3
CPD activity.

We welcome abstracts for the following categories:

REVIEW CRITERIA
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for abstracts which demonstrate creativity, leadership and excellence in professional
pharmacy practice.
CRITERIA
u RELEVANCE: to hospital or clinical pharmacy, or potential for impact on further research, policy
or practice;
u WELL CONDUCTED: clarity of purpose and appropriate research design, methodology, analysis,
results present;
u NEW/NOVEL: originality;
u WELL WRITTEN: appropriate spelling and grammar, and clearly and concisely written

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
ABSTRACT PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS
Abstract submissions which do not conform will be excluded from consideration. Abstracts will ONLY be accepted via the online abstract
submission site.
1. Abstracts should describe work which has not been presented at a previous SHPA National Conference.
Selection of oral and poster presentations is dependent on the content and presentation of the abstract. If this work has been published or
presented already, please provide details (this is not criterion for exclusion).
2. Abbreviations and statistical results should conform with the uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals. All
abbreviations must be spelled out on first use.
3. References are not required but may be included. References should follow the reference citation guide at:
http://jppr.shpa.org.au/lib/pdf/reference_citation_guide.pdf
4. Each abstract must be submitted in Microsoft Word file type, and must not exceed 300 words (excluding title). No other formats will be accepted.
5. Abstract title must not exceed 15 words.
6. The abstract should be arranged in a logical order, be informative and contain the following information:
TITLE – typed in bold, upper and lower case, should be brief and clearly state the nature of the study
TEXT – please do not make any mention of the institution or affiliation of the authors in the main body of the text.
CLINICAL RESEARCH REPORTS:
AIM – a one sentence statement of the study’s specific objective
METHODS – a brief statement of the method
RESULTS – a summary of the results obtained
CONCLUSION – a statement of the conclusion[s].

CASE REPORTS:
OBJECTIVE – state why the case is being reported
CLINICAL FEATURES – please include the patient’s age, sex, ethnic background, occupation, relevant medical history, presenting problems and
diagnosis as relevant
INTERVENTIONS, CASE PROGRESS AND OUTCOMES – these may be presented together or separately
CONCLUSION [S] – please state the lessons learnt from the report.
AUTHOR – author details MUST NOT appear on the abstract, to allow for blind reviewing
7. Please ensure you thoroughly check your abstract for spelling and grammar.
8. Abstract[s] must not contain tables, pictures or diagrams.
9. All contributed paper and poster presenters must register and pay to attend the conference.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INFORMATION
All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the conference website. Please refer to the Abstract Preparation Requirements and
the Call for Abstracts page on the conference website.
1. You will be asked to enter the presenting author’s contact details, affiliation information, abstract title, proposed type of presentation (oral or
poster), author(s), and brief biographical details of the presenting author.
2. If submitting more than one abstract, each abstract must be submitted under the name of the presenting author.
3. You have the option of submitting an abstract for either:
a. Oral presentation only
b. Poster display only
c. Oral or poster presentation
4. Ensure that all authors have agreed to the submission of the abstract[s], continue to the ‘upload abstract’ page. Please ensure that your
abstract is finalised and has been prepared in accordance with the abstract preparation requirements overleaf.
Please note that the presenting author must check the ‘acknowledgement of terms and conditions’ box when registering and submitting each
abstract.

SHPA will host a webinar on 5 May 2015 regarding submitting an abstract for MM2015. Keep your eyes open for an additional webinar regarding
presenting a poster. Further details will be available soon. Please note, webinars are for SHPA members only.

INFORMATION
PRESENTER INFORMATION
ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Contributed papers will be strictly limited to a
maximum of ten (10) minutes presentation, followed
by a five (5) minute period for discussion and a five
(5) minute presenter changeover.
POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Your notification letter will advise poster display
times, and details of poster size guidelines.
ACCEPTANCE
Whether your submission is accepted or rejected
as an oral presentation or poster display will be
determined by the Scientific Program Committee.
No feedback regarding individual submissions will be
given.
