CLASS OF 2015 EVENTS/ACTIVITIES OF INTEREST April 25 – Grand March (5:30 p.m., students arrive by 5:00 p.m.)/Prom (8:00-11:00 p.m. at Green Hill Country Club) April 30 – Club Pictures May 12 – Band Awards, 6:00 p.m. May 14 – Senior Social, Sharptown Memorial Building, 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10/person, five tickets per students. Senior students will need to purchase a ticket but will be reimbursed for tickets at the door when they arrive. Tickets were sold during lunch April 21 and April 23, and will be sold again on April 28. If you would like to attend this event and were unable to purchase tickets, please contact Crystal White at 410-726-2581 or [email protected], or Nancy Pope at 410-2512443. The cutoff date to order tickets will be May 4. Senior memory boards should be brought to Sharptown Memorial Building on May 14 between 6:15-6:30 p.m. so that they can be set up. Do not drop them off at the school. Also, we are asking seniors to e-mail pictures to Chuck Stanley, [email protected], to be included in a Powerpoint presentation to be displayed during the event. The attire for the Senior Social is casual. May 15 – Group Graduation Picture/College & Career Photo, 8:00 a.m. in Gym Caps and gowns will be given out at this time. Ladies: Please wear a light-colored dress or skirt and blouse (with no pattern since it will be seen through the gown), white dress shoes (which can include dressy sandals), but no flip flops. Gentlemen: Please wear a light-colored dress shirt, tie, dark dress pants, dark socks, and dark dress shoes under your gown. No blue jeans. Shortly after the group graduation picture is taken, we will be taking the college/career photo. Please bring a shirt from the college you are planning to attend, the military branch you will be joining, or the trade you will be entering. If you don’t have a shirt, consider making a sign or bringing in a pennant. We’d like to see everyone participate in this group photo. May 17 – Senior Baccalaureate, Gateway Church, 2:30 p.m. Seniors should bring their gowns with them to the Senior Baccalaureate. You do not need your cap. Attire is the same as what you will be wearing for Commencement. May 18 – Spring Sports Reception, 6:30 p.m. May 20 – Senior Awards, 7:00 p.m. Participation in the Senior Awards program is by invitation only. Invitations are normally handed out to students a week prior to the program. May 21 and 22 – Senior Exams May 21 – Exams in Periods 5, 6, 7; May 22 – Exams in Periods 1, 2, 3, 4 Exam exemption forms will be available the first week in May. Eligible students must complete the form, have it signed by a parent, and return it to the office by the deadline stated on the form in order to be considered exempt from an exam. May 22 – Last Day for Seniors May 26 – Senior Exam Make-up Day May 29 – Commencement Practice, Wicomico Civic Center, 9:00 a.m. – STUDENTS MUST ATTEND PRACTICE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES. May 30 – Commencement, Wicomico Civic Center, 2:30 p.m. Graduates should arrive at the Civic Center by 1:45 p.m. to line up. There will be time for pictures after the ceremony. Everyone: Mortarboards (graduation caps) are to be worn flat on your head not resting on the back of your head. At the beginning of the ceremony tassels are on the right; when prompted to do so during the ceremony, students will move the tassels to the left. NO CHEWING GUM. NO CELL PHONES. Please remind your guests to turn off their phones. Graduates, after the ceremony you will report to the Flanders Room to receive your senior envelope. GUESTS: Civic Center doors will open for guests at 1:45 p.m. The last admittance will be at 2:28 p.m. Once the commencement ceremony begins no one will be admitted. All guests should plan to arrive and be in their seats by 2:25 p.m. Please remember to turn your cell phones off. TICKETS: Each graduate will receive 10 tickets for Commencement. Because young children tend to get bored, it is suggested that they be left home. However, if you expect to bring a toddler you will need to have a ticket for him/her, even if they will be sitting on your lap. A ticket is required for each person attending. If you need additional tickets for Commencement, you will need to put the request in writing to Mr. Briggs for consideration. PLEASE NOTE: Graduates will not receive tickets if they have any outstanding financial obligations.
