1 Alcaraz carpet of the
“Holbein type”,
so named
because of
their similarity to
those depicted in
the 16th century
paintings of
Hans Holbein the
Younger.
2 17th century
Portuguese bed, much
imitated in Spain. It is
characterised by its
ornate spindles and large
lentoid shapes.
3 Nautilus cups
(fashioned from sea
snail shells) were
prized by western
collectors for their
exotic beauty.
4 The walls,
tables and
cabinets
of many
17th century
monasteries and palaces
were ﬁlled with plates
made in Talavera de la
Reina (Toledo).
5 Philip V’s
writing desk,
c. 1713, is a
typical piece that
celebrates the
king’s military
and political
triumphs in
the War of
the Spanish
Succession.
8 These large
vases are the
“masterpieces”
made by the
Royal Glass
Factory at La
Granja.
6 In the 18th century
Naples became the
main producer of nativity
displays, with clay
ﬁgurines and complex
contemporary settings.
7 This type of pistol,
pistol
dating to the 18th century,
was placed in the saddle
so it was easy for the
horseman to carry and
use.
9 The hat shop
that inspired
the decoration
on this cup
reminds us of
the importance
of fashion in the
Wiener Werkstätte at
the beginning of the 20th
century.
10 This 18th century
Valencian kitchen
decoration is
a reminder of
the Valencian
bourgeoisie’s
custom of serving
soft drinks or
chocolate on
special occasions.

The museum offers cultural and
educational activities for adults,
children and the less able. You
can consult the programma at

From Tuesday to Saturday: from
9.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Open on Thursday afternoons from
5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. (Closed on
Thursday in July and August).
Sundays and public holidays: from
10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Remember that the Museum
closes on Mondays throughout
the year, 1 January, 1 May,
24, 25 and 31 December
and one local holiday.
