School Safety Coordinator
Workshops - Round 2
Due to the positive response to the first few School Safety
Coordinator workshops in 2015 and because we weren’t
able to schedule for the northern area of the state during
the first round of workshops, the Missouri Center for
Education Safety is presenting three more workshops.
The workshop will bring you information on high-quality,
up-to-date, school safety planning.
Click a location and date to register:
Trenton - Monday, May 4
Maryville - Tuesday, May 5
Hannibal - Wednesday, May 6
Workshop Agenda:
9:30 a.m. - Legal Update, MSBA Policy Division
11:30 a.m. - Lunch (box lunch provided)
12:00 p.m. - Emergency Planning/Missouri 1Plan, CES
The cost is $49.00, which includes the boxed lunch.
Please pass this opportunity along to others in your area
or district that may not be receiving our emails or
newsletter. The four-hour workshop is POST-certified.

Please complete the District Emergency Operations Plan
(EOP) Self-Assessment Tool to ensure your school is
served by a US Department of Education grant obtained
by DESE to help schools identify any gaps and ensure
every school has a high-quality emergency operations
plan.
1. Start the self-assessment tool here:
http://seiservices.qualtrics.com
/SE/?SID=SV_4Jf9mhS4nuku0Jv&state=MO
2. If you experience any difficulty loading the tool,
please copy and paste the above link into a different
browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox) and click enter.
3. Answer each question in the designated fields to the
best of your knowledge with your emergency
planning efforts as they were prior to October 1,
2014.
4. After you submit the tool, email CES at
[email protected] with “Completed Assessment Tool”
in the subject line and provide your name and
school district to receive a FREE USB thumb drive
with emergency planning resources.
This tool will be re-administered at the end of the grant in
March 2016. This will help the US Department of
Education determine the grant’s effectiveness in quality
school emergency operations plans. Thank you to the
hundreds of schools who have completed the tool!

Be Aware: "Ransomeware"
“Ransomeware” is a hacker's dream and an IT
professional’s nightmare. Recently, a number of law
enforcement agencies in the US have been targeted, and
even the FBI and Homeland Security could not recover
their files absent the departments paying the ransom to
the hackers. Are schools a target? Could you afford to
loose all the digital records, including possibly your
back-ups? A little due diligence will go a long way.
