METAL ROOFS
®
Metal roofs exhibit most of their leaking problems at laps, seams, skylights, fasteners and other penetrations.
The PREMIUMCOAT® system is used extensively to repair and waterproof commercial, industrial, and historic standing-seam metal roofs.
The PREMIUMCOAT® system bonds with any metal surface, providing a permanent watertight solution to any metal roof leakage problem.

PREMIUMCOAT SYSTEM
The greatest enemy for a built up roof is the sun. The sun’s powerful infrared and ultraviolet rays cause heat aging of the built-up system
resulting in the leaching of oils, causing the roof to prematurely dry out and crack. The PREMIUMCOAT® system is used on both new
and existing built-up and modified roofs providing a protective barrier between the substrate and the sun’s damaging rays.

DECKS
PLYWOOD AND
INSULATION BOARD
PREMIUMCOAT® is a high-performance, sustainable system for plywood and insulation board. Its superior adhesion characteristics and its inherent ultraviolet and
infrared resistance make it ideally suited for the harshest environments.
During
Decks are most often roofs that you walk on. The PREMIUMCOAT® system is ideal for waterproofing decks because of its ability to flash from deck to
wall junctions, railings and post. The system is renewable by recoating every five years and if it is damaged it can easily be repaired. TRAFFICCOAT
abrasion resistant coating can be applied over the system to provide a tough, easy-to-clean surface.
After
Above & below: PREMIUMCOAT® system being installed over roof deck, parapet walls and transitions at lumber company.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Above: PREMIUMCOAT® system and TRAFFICCOAT providing a waterproof traffic surface at beach house.
Surface Preparation
Power wash and clean all surfaces to be waterproofed.
Priming
Chalking surfaces should be primed with SureBond Primer.
Rusty surfaces should be primed with StableRust Primer.
Concrete surfaces should be primed with BarrierGuard®.
Black EPDM surfaces should be primed with CleanAct Primer.
All other surfaces do not require priming..
Application
Install cant strips at all internal corners.
Apply a 6” or 12” wide strip of PremiumCoat® FoundationCoat, Fabric, and
FoundationCoat over cant strips, cracks and joints such as plywood and insulation
board.
Apply the FoundationCoat, Fabric and FoundationCoat all in one step to the area
to be waterproofed making sure there are no wrinkles or air pockets. Overlap fabric
by 4 inches.
Apply the FinishCoat to the treated area in two coats.
Coverage

Installation of PREMIUMCOAT® FOUNDATIONCOAT system over polysaturate insulation board at military base housing in Guam.
The largest concern with waterproofing structural concrete is finding a system which will remain permanently bonded even in hurricane conditions.
PREMIUMCOAT® is a fluid applied, fully adhered, breathable system. It is excellent for waterproofing structural concrete, and its bonding ability to both substrates
is many times greater than even the most stringent roofing standards. PREMIUMCOAT® forms a monolithic system which will mold to any type of surface and is
therefore an excellent means of extending the waterproofing membrane onto any curb, penetration, or parapet wall.

retaining walls and moisture-retaining structures such as gutters, cisterns, and concrete shrubbery boxes. Mixed with water and
Portland cement, and fully reinforced with BARRIERGUARD® fabric, it forms a hard-wearing, flexible compound. It is also resistant to
standing water and ideal for subterranean waterproofing.
Surface Preparation
Remove any loose or flaking particles, scale, dirt, rust or scale. Masonry
surfaces need to be dampened first to prevent moisture loss from slurry.

Mixing
Slurry is prepared by mixing (one-part BarrierGuard®, one-part water,
and three parts Portland cement). Add BarrierGuard® and water to a clean
5- gallon pail and mix with a slow-speed mechanical mixer for about 1
minute. Slowly add the Portland cement until a totally homogenous and
lump-free slurry is produced. Above 80 degrees it is recommended to
add ice to cool down the slurry mix to prevent premature gelling.
Application
Apply BarrierGuard® slurry to the dampened area and immediately
imbed the BarrierGuard® Fabric in the wet slurry. Work out any bubbles
or creases with the brush. Fully saturate the Fabric from above with
more slurry and allow to dry. Follow with a final coat of BarrierGuard®
slurry. BarrierGuard® Fabric should lap by minimum of four inches.
Coverage
One gallon of BarrierGuard® will make approximately four gallons
of slurry. The slurry will cover approximately 50 square feet of full
BarrierGuard® System that is reinforced with fabric, or 250 square
feet of single coat priming.
BarrierGuard® being installed on exterior of basement wall prior to back fill at private residence in North Carolina.
