The Monmouth Council Pinewood Derby Championships will be held at Monmouth Mall on Friday May 8 th with the first race at 7pm. The Monmouth Council Pinewood Committee has been tasked with providing a fair and impartial event where each racer has the same chance at competing. The Committee have worked hard to ensure a fair and unbiased set of rules for all to use, randomly generated race schedules and a chance for all racers to race on all lanes of the track. On raceday, each racer will need to check in at the Race Central table. They will need to turn in a Media Release Form and will be provided a set of Racer Credentials. Racer Credentials are used by the racer and his Pit Crew to retrieve a car from the pit area for lubrication and to collect his car after the races are complete. You must check in to claim credentials. Racers are expected to be wearing their racing attire (cub scout uniform). To be eligible for a trophy, the racer needs to be both present and checked in, BEFORE the end of preliminary racing is complete. If credentials are not picked up we must assume you are not present. Each of those races will be in a different lane of the six lane track. These preliminary heats will be against racers from all the ranks and all the districts, not just racers within their own rank. Scoring will be based on aggregate time for all 6 heats. On occasion there may be a need to rerun a race based on the judgment of the Racing Team. If a race is rerun, the times from the 1 st attempt are not retained. If the same race requires a rerun only those racers having an issue will be rerun, at the end of the preliminaries in the lane they were assigned. The times for the other cars in that heat will be kept. Once preliminaries are complete the aggregate times for each rank will be collected and the fastest 3 racers in each rank will be advanced to the Grand Champion Race. Fifteen racers will compete in a Grand Champions Finals. Times from the Preliminaries will not carry into the Finals. All cars begin the finals with a fresh start on times.
